The more than half a million children in foster care, and the 118,000 children waiting to be adopted. May they find as much love, happiness, and success as I have. I also want to thank the GOOD foster and adoptive parents for opening their hearts and homes to children. And without dedicated CASA's, Guardian ad Litems, and other child welfare workers, so many more of us would fall through the cracks.

About me:
www.rhodes-courter.com Soooo, you're probably wondering what I'm all about. Here are a few things that'll hopefully give me some credentials... After spending almost ten years in foster care, I now work to make the system better for kids all across the country. I have been featured in/on Glamour, Women's World Magazine, USA Today, Good Morning America, Teen People, The New York Times, and on The Today Show. I appeared with Dave Peltzer on Montel, and was interviewed for a segment on foster care for Primetime. When I was fourteen, I won first place in an essay contest sponsored by Scholastic on “How the Harry Potter Books Changed My Life.” My essay, “Three Little Words,” sponsored by the New York Times, won the grand prize and resulted in the writing of my memoir, also called "Three Little Words." Now I have the honor of being a child advocate and I give keynotes to various conferences and groups all across North America. I've spoken on Capital Hill, and has been invited to the White House twice (which was sweeeeet). In early 2007 I was honored with a prestigious Golden BRICK Award, and was acknowledged as one of the top 20 undergraduates in America by USA Today, and one of GLAMOUR magazine's Top Ten College Women. I was the host of "Explore Adoption" for the state of Florida, and this segment later won a regional Emmy. I hope that my story will help show how much foster kids, or those who have suffered adversity, can achieve. I also hope it will inspire others to become active in their own communities and reinforce the work of those already involved in the system or with at-risk families and youth. Thanks for taking the time to visit!Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone who has a passion to make change--especially young people who have overcome adversity and are striving to make the world a better place for others.Details

About this page:
I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there are a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There are also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this. :D

Keep us posted as to when it comes out, we will definitely go see it.
I'd really like to say how much i enjoyed reading your book. It was interesting to read through someone else's eyes the things which happen through adoption and foster homes. I have had a few friends which I grew up with who never turned out as well as you did. You have a big heart and such a kind soul to accept such happenings, events, and people into your life. I'd love to read more of your books. You're a wonderful author and I thank you for taking the time to open up and share with others your life story.
I think it's great that your book is becoming a movie. Will it be on the big screen, or made for t.v?
Well, it has been a long time. Glad to see your on here, hit me up whenever you get the chance.
