The end of an era, the Galactica fleet reached Earth

Current mood:excited

Wow, is all I can say.  Ive been a diehard fan of the orignianl Battlestar Galactica show and when the new miniseries came out in 2003 I got hooked on it, what a great concept to bring the old show to the 21st century and make it real.  It was seriously freaky, along the same line as terminator.
The series started up with season 1 in 2005 and ran a hole season, then half of season two came and like forever later the second have of season three trickled out.  Season 3 was split in half as well and Season 4 seemed like it came out in groups of episodes.  I really cant recall exactly but the entire series has been an edge of the seat rollercoaster ride that I lived for.  I have never been into a show that much.
A wrap up was not expected but it was done with style and very dramatically.  I have to say, Im not ready to start watching the series over again, because watching it evoked alot of emotion in me throught the entire series.  Im not ready to watch the whole thing through yet, but I am going to go back and watch some the best episodes again.  Some that have some really good space battles.  The human tragedy and drama is very dark, hey, its the end of humanity with 46 some odd thousand survivors that dwindles to 38,000 at the end.  That's pretty depressing if you think about it.  There really werent a ton of space battles in the series, not like the original that had one every episode, but there were some darn good huge battles.
The sad things are how many people died along the way that were in the show starting out.  Many main characters died off in just the last season.
I have to say, I was on the edge of my seat all night watching the two hour finale, and even as it was winding down tieing up the story slowly, and you kinda knew what was going to happen, it was still heart pounding from the massive battle and aftermath.
Then came the sadness of loss.  The show is over, it WAS the most AWESOME show on TV, and its over, it was like watching a friend die, because you know these people, seen them at the weekest points of thier lives and watched them triump and carry on whith no hope at all.   I was a diehard trekky and still am to a point, but I did not feel this way when the last episode "All Good things" of Star Trek the Next Generation aired.
Well, its late, its been over for an hour now and I think Ive calmed down enough to go to bed, Im tired but still hyped up.
All you other BSG fans out there, life can go on in reruns on syndication!  Only 4 seasons and dang they made a hell of a story.
