Brodie has been a singer/songwriter/bass player since 1967, when she joined her first road band (The Great Dames- got that name from a mudflap!) in the Washington, DC area. She and the guitarist from that band, D. Carolyn Moore, went on to work with a multitude of other musicians in their bands Lunatic Fringe w/Trisha & Skip Fry, and then Billy Manning & Doug Farwig; and Power & The Glory w/Pam Benford & Nancy Rogers. One of the most simultaneously fabulous and harrowing years of Brodie & Carolyn's lives was spent in the integrated four-piece band, The Mason-Dixon Lyne, in the early 70's in the South with Michael Keck and "Poochie" Harmon. Brodie is currently working on a screenplay about that experience called The Lyne. Mike went on to the band Mother's Finest after The Mason-Dixon Lyne broke up.
When Brodie & Carolyn went their separate ways, Brodie worked with David Floyd in a 10-piece North Carolina horn band, The Flares, in which she replaced Alisha Bridges. This band became Brodie's Downhome Cookin' (Brodie, David Floyd, Bobby Donaldson, Mike Floyd & Rob Thorne). Eventually, Brodie moved to the country, seeking a calmer lifestyle. While living in Rappahannock County, VA, she played in a band (Rivershoes I) with noted blues singer/bassplayer/songwriter Joyous Perrin and Skip and Liz (now Ritoli) Haga. After a year in Tucson, AZ, she moved to Arkansas, where she has lived since, with a two-year stint in Tokyo, Japan, as an English teacher. While in Tokyo, Brodie gigged with a Japanese back-up band full of great studio musicians featuring guitarist Shigekazu Konita and also worked with another guitarist, "Mick" Kemmotsu, writing a song a week and recording it. She has been in a number of groups in Arkansas, chief among them was Rivershoes III with Tina Wilcox & Marion Spear. She is presently working on writing and recording more of her original songs.
Brodie is also an accomplished artist, actor, metalworker, designer and educator. She holds a BA in Art & Theatre, an MS in Educational Multimedia and an MSEd in TESOL.
Brodie has played shows or jammed with: Suzi Quatro, Little Richard, Tracy Nelson, Albert King, Michael Keck, David Floyd, Roger Powell, Roy Buchanon, The Drifters, Sam the Sham, Flash Cadillac, Candy Givens, Meg Christian and many others.
Brodie's personal style and stage presence has been an influence on many other singers. She has been riding motorcycles since she was 11 and lived in Japan. In the early 70's, Brodie rode a Triumph 500, but now she rides a Moto Guzzi 500 after decades of riding a BMW 750. Her no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners approach to life is reflected in the energy and passion she brings to her music.
