My acrylic paintings are inspired by nature and self-development, and are created in a Magical Realist style. Animals, plants, and figures serve as mythic symbols of love, lust, anxiety, solitude, growth, and (in)justice in a landscape of organic forms, patterns, and rich color celebrating the natural world. If you haven’t heard of Carolina Hardigree yet, well, hold out your pillowcase cum candy sac ’cause I’m about to toss you a moon-touched treat.
Hardigree’s exploration of psyche and spirit often collides with animal totems, which only makes sense since Hardigree herself is a mythical creature. She’s a white owl who has sly secret fox ears and red fur that she hides beneath a regal ruffling of white feathers. And then there’s her girl self, with sweet solid legs and a fretful brow. Her human intelligence and her animal simpatico are present in all her paintings. She’s a phenomenal talent and an old soul...
[Her work] is sure to ring a deep chord, down beneath the rungs of your ribs, for those who have received a detail or a message or an odd whisper of knowing from an unlikely source. That flicker from the corner of your eye which settles everything in a second. That jarring jolt which sends the tea things a clatter. The smoky shape afloat in the open doorway. I swear I have been in this moment, in this place, a million times and yet I’m seeing it now for brand new...It is no wonder that I love Hardigree. She shows me what I wish to see.

So, okay, the thing about nanowrimo and why I say it's my chubbette writer chick of a 10K marathon is that it's not something I would've done otherwise, not this book at this time, but to adhere to the challenge rules I had to choose a project that I hadn't yet researched. But it shook me up for that reason. Anyways, maybe for you to have a challenge you should do the fox on stilts painting. We'll buy us a canvas and you can wrestle with the challenge. Just an idea. You asked me if I thought you have the stuff? Hell fucking yea you have the stuff. And talent isn't had by any and all. If you have the talent you are already ahead of the game. Not behind. Tho it feels like it sometimes. But try not to "drown in a teaspoon of doubt." It's poison. Not a word I use lightly.
