Bio
Choosen for more than twenty five years by one of the greatest jazz pianists-vocalists, to be her “percussionist”, Steve Williams has already a long discography. With Shirley Horn, he shared his tempos with Miles Davis, Toots Thielemans, Brandford and Wynton Marsalis, Carmen McRae and others. It is with a quintet that he delivers his first album as a leader: New Incentive. Original compositions, written by four of the musicians in the band, are served by Steve Williams (drums), Olivier Hutman (piano), Michael Bowie (bass), Donvonte McCoy (trumpet) and Antoine Roney (sax). Three guests joined in this musical conversation: Gary Bartz, Roy Hargrove and John Hicks. -
