"i thought it was a joke. i thought it would pass on. little did i know, the joke would go on." ~ dan murray those words of dan came to fruition in december of 1990. many years had passed, but throughout those years, tom & dan continued to work together musically. tom's friend brian joined in on a jam session & suggested a "brand new band" form. brian invited keyboard player kenny hubert, while tom invited kevin sweeney, whom brought along patrick conlan. not long after that, kevin left as the new band "middle see" practiced for their first gig. on february 26, 19992, they played their first show at the old state tavern. they also giged at full gospel assembly assembley church. patrick had already left the band, & kenny left soon after. brian found a bass player to squeeze out one last show, "the final hoorah" at the speak easy. but the band fell on "hard times" & soon after that gig, once again, tom was kicked out of the band!.. ..~ the recording sessions~.. .. we decided to go into the recording studio in 1993. we agreed on 5 songs for the first session, elizabeth", "the conversation", "ring, ring, ring", "the curse of angelique", & "standing over me". 2 weeks before the session, tom wrote "drexel hill". we decided to record it after practicing it only a few times. the music recorded during the second session was much more darker. songs like," nightmares", "gang of spiders", "rock n roll", "whiplash", "not as slick", & "15". we recorded twice afterwards, without dan, & with michael stenson on bass & kevin sweeney on guitar. the final recording session at plh studio, brian & dan were gone. matt deprospero replaced brian on drums. middle see had breathed it's last breath it seemed, or did they?.. ..~ stenson-hindorff ~.. ..although brian was the motivating force that reunited middle see in the 90's, jimmy hindorff had much to do with it's life force. soon after tom left the original middle sea band, he teamed up with jimmy. jimmy taught tom how to play guitar & they played, wrote, & recorded together. tom remained in touch with dan & mike rigney & it was through jimmy that tom met brian. they often got together & jammed. a key note to this connection lies with the shoebox of lyrics dan gave tom & jimmy. dan said to them, put some music to these lyrics. after they did, brian recorded a tape with jimmy & tom of these songs. dan woiuld never hear that tape. it was stolen, along with brian's tape deck, in a church parking lot! some of these songs were later recorded by middle see when they got back together. stenson_hindorff performed 3 shows at middle sea record store & rose tree park, as well as many on the street corners of center city philadelphia... ..~ the reunions ~.. ..the first reunion was at arg city. the remaining members of middle sea opened up for stenson-hindorff. tom also performed a few songs with them. "lady", "my generation", & a few others. they also did a stenson-hindorff tune, "sad situation". the next jam was in mile rigney's garage way back when we were teens. tom, dan, & brian, also jammed with mike in the 90's. the stenson-hindorff days lasted till 84. in 86, tom & dan began writing together again. not too long after that, brian joined in. in 90, the band was formed & pretty much dead again by 94. they performed for friends at parties & barbeques after that off & on. the next real gig was the benefit for mike gorbey in the late 90's. a few years ago, tom, dan, michael, & matt did a benefit concert for baby morgan. we are planning to get together again to add some new material to this website. thanks to brian, once again, middle see lives on! like dan said,"the joke would go on!" ..................................................................................................
