Influences
Al's influences come from that timeless era of swing! His biggest influences are Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Matt Munroe and Andy Williams, Harry Connick Jr, Michael Buble, Jamie Cullam..........and more recently Billy Michaels!
Sounds Like
Initially Al's sound and style was likened to many of the great crooners, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin and even Harry Connick Jr.
However as time has moved on so has Al. Having developed his own identity there is now a very distinct British feel to his crooning likened to Jimmy Young with the warmth of Val Doonican and Matt Munroe. Al would like to think he takes a bit of the best attributes from all the great crooners to deliver his own unique laid back style.
Al is fast becoming one of London’s up and coming crooning sensations. He began singing in 2000, a self-taught and self-styled crooner. Inspired by an overwhelming amount of positive comments and praise from those lucky enough to witness his laid back style and smooth performance he began performing publicly. Initially Al's performances were at the request of charities and good cause events. Amidst many rave reviews he has since gone on to perform at many private parties and corporate events.
In 2007 Al recorded what was initially a demo album later entitled ‘Vegas Nights’. A ten track tribute album containing many of Al’s crooning/swinging favorites inspired by Sinatra & Darin. Shortly after its recording 'Vegas Nights' gained recognition States side thanks to the wonder of myspace. Many of the tracks were initially aired on Home Grown Radio, New Jersey.
Impromptu performances in Berlin and Hong Kong towards the end of 2007 proved to be his last for some time having developed a crippling illness upon his return.
As 2008 rolled on and whilst on the road to recovery Al was signed up by Soron Records. As a result he is back in the studio currently working on a second very different sounding album.......some would say a 'very British' sound this time round!
'Vegas Nights' is currently available to listen to and purchase from Soron Records and the second album is due for release in the autumn!
Al adores performing to appreciative audiences and if you love the authentic sound of swing you'll love his one man show!
