  • Brilliant, in so few eyes.

    Current mood:cheerful

Maybe the summer is bringing out my even more strange side.  I've come up with two insane ideas that my minions and/or friends are working possibly on.

Phase 1.  365 days of drinking.  Not for the faint of heart, and the low weight folks I think.  I was talking with Ian and Kyle about them being 21 next year and they wanted to have drinking parties (of course).  Well, we found several people turning of legal age (I'm sure they've had it before though).  So I was thinking, if we put the word out and find people with a birthday on every day of the year of 2007 that turn 21, we could have a roaming party, and by the end of the year, would have a huge following!

Phase 2.  The Lucky Frog Reeses Peanut Butter Eating Contest.  I was opening Reeses cups for the wrappercash this evening and I was thinking, how do you get rid of thise many peanut butter cups?  And it hit me.  You have an eating contest.  Kyle loves the idea, and it really could fly, I mean PB cups are awesome!  We could get a contest, have a prize and everything!

Well, I'll elaborate more, so that myspace doesn't eat this blog :P  ***

  • The Xbox360 wait...

Well, November 21st rolled around, and we joked about waiting for an Xbox360.  Well, it happened, one of my few camp outs in a long line.  It started a few days before when Keith said his mom was camping for one for him, and I found out I wasn't on the first wave list, even though I ordered through EB in July.  Frustrated that I wouldn't get one, and that people ordering bundles online got them if they ordered as late as August 30th, I thought about it.  Zohar came in and said he wanted to camp for one, so we scoured some places, asking them how many they had, when they opened in the morning to sell them, etc.  We called around at 3pm and heard there were lines already 30 .  Our best bet seemed to be Best Buy Fair Oaks, since we heard the line at Best Buy Sterling was around the building (and the only BB that was open at midnight).  Fair Oaks claimed they had 100, so we left around 7pm (close early Monday nights) and headed over to check it out, it was crowded and there were tents outside already.  We check the line and it looked to be in the 60s or so, so Zohar and Dan (who came just for shits and giggles apparently) stood in line.  I finished returning something at Best Buy, and stood out there with them, they apparently got Core tickets for the 360, not what Zohar wanted, and I didn't care, I already had a Premium coming through preorder, albeit a bit later.  Zohar tried trading up, and there was a guy behind us, I spoke to him and explained the differences in the systems, and we talked a bit more, he and his wife seemed to think that they only had to wait until midnight, but I explained I believed it to be 7am.  We chatted more and he went to try to upgrade to a premium as well, he came back empty handed, saying he offered $80 for an upgraded ticket, but had no luck.  He was also very nice, in letting me stand under his large umbrella, seeing as how I was just in my coat with gloves.  Zohar went to check other places (I had picked that Best Buy because of it's proximity to other locations that were selling the 360), such as Target, Walmart, Toysrus, and such.  Zohar came back about 30 minutes later saying that the Toysrus had 6 and we could get premiums, there were only a couple people in line, and Dan was holding a spot, so we ran over there.  We got there, and there were 2 guys a girl together but they only wanted on Core, along with one guy who followed us over, and one other fellow who was there with a chair.  The two guys and girl waited for a bit with us, and we offered them one of our core systems so they had that guaranteed, and then we could get a premium since they were earlier than us in line.  They went to Best Buy to stand in that line, but we liked our little thing, because it had an awning and was dry :)  The rain was getting to us out there and it was windy and cold.  So we stood around, and the guy with the chair introduced himself as Young, and we passed around intros, Zohar, Dan, Bryan who was in the Best Buy parking lot, and then me.  We joked about who were getting them for and chatted who was getting what.  Zohar needed a premium (for some reason his friends in New Jersey thought it would be easier to get a Premium here near DC than out in the boonies :P), since we were ahead of Bryan, we got 2 Premium, and Young was slated for one, leaving Bryan a Core, and 2 spots.  I decided to hop in and get a Core too, and Young gave his slot to Bryan.  So the lineup was Bryan (getting a Premium for his brother-in-law), Dan/Gigantor (getting a Core for David Gearhart), Zohar (getting Premium for his friends in boarding school), Young (getting a Core for himself, and he even had games), and myself (getting a Premium for what I was going to offer to Keith).  We had a slot left, but Bryan was like I'll get two, and we had no objections, and we seemed to be getting along.  I ran home to get a table and tried to find chairs, but only got a 6' plastic fold out table, a jacket for Zohar, and some other trinkets.  Zohar went to Walmart before they closed for some hand warmers (the little sacs that you shake and they heat for several hours).  We sat outside Toysrus until they closed and then made ourselves a little more comfortable sitting on Bryan's roll out mat and Young's chair.  Young's friends came by to bring him some cardboard and bubble wrap with which he planned on making a makeshift bed.  They actually stood and chatted for a little while and then drove off making fun of us :P  We stayed up chatting and I grabbed my laptop and PSP to keep people company.  Zohar kept being a bum and going to his car to sleep in the warmth :P  Several people came by through the night asking about us, and Bryan covered by saying that the 6th person was just running to the bathroom or some excuse when people noted we only had 5 people :P  *

  • Ravnica, not as good as gold, but still cool

    Current mood:tired

New Magic set out, it is looking good, the cards are powerful, and people have taken a liking to the set so far.  I'm still here for the midnight drafting/sealed, hopefully I can go home soon.  Already down to 70 some boxes left.  It has been a nice long day, seeing as how the UPS guy didn't come by until 1pm and I had been here since around 9am :(  Dominic, Gearhart, Elgins, Ian Shore, Ian MacInnes, Dan, Gigantor, Dilley, Khai, Dave and Mike Strauss, Jacob, Scott Taylor, and a whole slew of other folks have stopped by.  Just typing this because otherwise I might fall asleep :P  Hopefully Kyle can work tomorrow, bleh, and he killed my flat panel monitor.  Maybe I'll hop on some EQ2 and eat the bandwidth of those bums playing WoW.  Hrmph, getting too old for this.  I need to rewind back like 8 years!  Actually, listening to the Lillywhite sessions before they were turned into Busted Stuff.  No one is online because it is weekday night/morning.  I really should move to a new time zone and just hop between a few, it would work out much easier :P

  • Governing bodies, all but warm

    Current mood:chipper

Prepare for no paragraphs!  Details below :P

I'm all for topics, and views and such for voting for our legislature, or whatnot.  The incessant calls, letters, and emails are starting to become bothersome.  I don't care for the mudslinging campaigns, because they all claim they are right in the same field, or say their opponent is doing something wrong in a field that they don't say what they are doing.  I half the time am wondering if any more politicians are just out there stealing money from their campaigns.  I mean I just don't see the whole "I'm doing this for my country" idea anymore.  I thought they were gaining office to represent us, not just go off on their own agendas.  Maybe this is why I don't deal with politics and don't really speak of it, I'll get off my soapbox now :P

No idea where I'm going with this one, but...  I was also wondering about these new credit card laws regarding the Xing or *ing of credit card numbers so as to prevent identity theft.  I was remarking that when I got a receipt with my whole number and the expiration date on it.  I mean I keep all my receipts these days so I can compare it online every few days to my statement/current activity.  I have piles upon piles of hard copy documentation for some random day when I need it (except for those blasted rebates that they claim I never sent in the whole thing and I didn't make a copy of).  I kind of want to go back to the days 10 years ago, when I would just use cash for everything, had no card with rewards, so I would know how much I had left, and I wouldn't have to worry about the whole security thing.  I mean it is everywhere these days, something stolen, person's records tampered, etc.  I mean, I know back a ways ago, I had my few errant keystrokes, but they never were anything that was illegal, more for fun, but now, it is like hackers vs. security companies.  I'm almost paranoid to type in anything, and I immediately try to cover it up, I have so many differing passwords, I can't keep them straight and about 20% of the time I have to ask for the PW or reset it.  I just don't know how we moved so much in this way in 10 years, maybe I'm too paranoid and we haven't drastically changed, or maybe we've changed too much, but as long as I don't get killed by a robot resembling Arnold Schwarzenegger, I can sleep easy tonight.

Side note:  Ravnica is coming Thursday, no sleep for a few days preparing, so IM me or something, I'm sure I'll be awake!
