About Corazón: Corazón (which literally means heart, but is also a term of endearment towards a loved one) looks at the space in the parenthesis between the bookends of birth and death. In particular, the human connection (in physicalness) and disconnection (in suicide). Jaime Carrera's newest performance art evening-length work examines the perceived responsibilities in relationships, whether familial, sexual or emotional.
Can you create it, dress it, imagine it, and bring it??? We are seeking talented Queens and one King for a new Drag Extravaganza at a popular Uptown Minneapolis location!!! The show will be every other month, beginning the third Thursday of October 2008. This will be a paid show.
Required: The esthetic is ‘high drag’ with a possible queer edge. This means creativity, wigs, full-face makeup, and costumes (nothing one would see from Target or Gap in the street, UNLESS you “Project Runway” the heck out of the thing and make it your own!) You must also have a positive attitude and be open to intelligent discussion and collaboration regarding the show.
Suggested: You think of drag performance as an art, an expression of creativity, individuality, and/or political response, a method by which to innovate fashion; in other words, something more than putting on a dress and lip-syncing. Experience preferred (drag and/or theater), amateur talent will be considered.

About GODLESS:
A show about atheism from the point of view of someone raised in a strict conservative catholic environment who, at age 13, began to reject his own family's faith, organised religion in general, and eventually, the notion of god. Rarely discussing his atheism in youth for fear of the typical annoying attempts to "save" his soul, and gradually finding like-minded individuals and information, but finding most material on the subject too academic and a bit dull. In his second full stage show, Jaime Carrera addresses several hypocrisies of the church, from the convenience of god's forgiveness in confession, to love thy neighbor though god hates fags, equating atheists with satanists (who worship another imaginary entity), and the ever-popular "fear of god". Mixing humour and performance to create a pop art version of blasphemous fun!

On March 29, the Marietta College Rainbow Alliance will be holding our first drag show potentially featuring amateurs and professionals. In the past we have used professionals from a local bar. This year we decided to invite people from all over Ohio, Nothern WV, and Western PA. It is our hopes that we can provide an environment where college aged students can perform, possibly for the first time. We will be holding auditions on February 16 and 24 here on our campus from 12-4. We are, however, also accepting video to avoid extra driving! :-) Check out our flyer!
We will hold a "judging" competition made up of our own MC faculty. They will be judging on costumes and performances with the winners receiving gift certificates. All participants will receive grabbags for sure and get to keep any money made from their performance. The individual will get to perform 2, possibly 3 depending on numbers, songs. This could be a potential opportunity for professionals to see you as well and provide advancement opportunities :-) Finally, If you are making a considerable drive, we could provide housing here on campus.
