OK, get up from your computer, go stand infront of your mirror and repeat after me:
"Duh, na, nah, na, nah nah,
    You say it's your birthday!
Duh, na, nah, na, nah nah,
We're gonna have a good time!"

Repeat as many times as possible until you smile, then go and have a good time!

    Many happy returns!

Other than anything to do with music, I enjoy photography, bird watching (If someone driving in front of you suddenly swerves and waves their arm out the window, pointing at the sky, look up... there might be a really cool bird up there. The driver might be me!), travel to new places, hiking, kayaking, reading. I'm also an activist for the environment and human rights. I have been known to stand on an occasional soapbox and speak my mind.

I love to read... I can't even begin to list the books which have impacted my perspective on life and the universe. Some of my favourite topics are history, spirituality (not any one path in particular... they all have something to teach us) and biographies. I also really enjoy fiction writers such as Ann Rice. She has fascinated me with her vampire and witch tales. I've read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings series three times. I've read all of Harry Potter. I bought it for my son and then couldn't put it down! Included in my home library are volumes of poetry, as well. They inspire me in my own writing. It is impossible for me to enter a bookstore and come out empty handed.

About me:

.... When I was a little girl and people would ask me, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I would say, "Peter Pan or a pirate!" I think that may still be true. I love pirates. I currently live in Texas, but I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and my heart is forever connected to the beauty of the mountains and the song of the sea. I've had careers in the medical field and biology, having great enthusiasm for both. My first love, however, has always been music. Throughout my life I have continued to stay involved in music, whether as a performer or a sound engineer or in some other aspect of the business. My first "gig" was in kindergarten. I was the only little kid on the early bus because I attended the morning class. Everyone else was in high school on my route. My first day of school, I was scared to get on the bus so my aunt told the driver that I could sing and dance. From that day forward, I spent my morning ride to school dancing down the aisle, singing "Good Ship Lollipop" and other such songs. I finally made the "big leap" in 1995 and have been working, full time, as a touring musical artist since 1997. Many folks will remember me from performing with Ruthie Foster. I've had so many incredible experiences and shared the stage with so many beautiful artists who have become cherished friends over the years. I play percussion and drums and I sing. Lately, I've been working on creating my own music. Extensive experience with the business side of the industry has caused me to hang out my shingle as an artist consultant as well as teaching music biz workshops at various festivals and retreat centers. I'm also working on a book of poetry combined with my photography. I want to teach drumming for kids. I share my home in the country with my partner, Washington.

Who I'd like to meet:

The Dalai Lama. Maya Angelou. My Grandmother, Julia, who died before I was born.
