Seattle's 1982 - 1988 Modern Rock radio station tribute page. NOW! - more added web storage with much more song variety available to online listeners. Now with even more hard to find tracks from the glory daze. Thank you Janis, Mike Fuller, Variant Cause and Maggie Laird for the contributions! Does anyone have any KJET recordings? Name a price even. Listen to the original playlist and live recordings with many of the real station IDs. I need the rare local music from the KJET playlist! Contact me - 1600kjet@gmail.com

PASSENGER COMMENTS! - - - - - - - "Greetings, I stumbled into the KJET site and noticed you were looking for some Blackwood/Laird music. I'm sending the 4 songs that were on the B/L EP (Kinda like Melting, Roll On, Come On In, and Gone for the Night), all of which received lots of airplay on KJET. Also included is "Leon," which we recorded as a single and which also got lots of airplay. It might take a couple of emails to send. Let me know if there are any problems with the files. Thanks for your interest! Maggie Laird" - - - - - - - - - - "I'm still listening to my airchecks and have more adds to the playlist: The Lyres - "Help You Ann" The Rain Parade - "You Are My Friend" Billy Bragg - "Levis Stubbs' Tears" Golden Palominos - "Diamond" New Marines - Diving For Pearls" Local: The Bombardiers - "Search and Enjoy" I found all three hours of "Flight 84," the local music special I did at the end of 1984 that was the inspiration for Made In The States. I also figured out the start dates for Passport and the Mile High Club. No complete regular format broadcasts yet, but I did find a few gems, including a bunch of celebrity IDs. The best is one by Aimee Mann from 'Til Tuesday, that has outtakes from Debbie Paine on what to say. I also found an interview that I did with Bill Bateman and John Baz from the Blasters, that includes music and, at the end of the tape, are some movie bits that I was going to turn into station IDs, but never got around to it. By the way, on the subject of station IDs, there were three voices that I know of: Steve Larson from launch until mid-1984 (when Jim Keller took over), then Jeff Stites, who was the production director for KZOK and KJET and later, Carl Palmer, one of the production statff and part-time KZOK DJ, who was also a part-timer on KJET as Doc Palmer (I think when we started using 1590 AM, instead of 1600 AM. The frequency was always 1590, of course, but that was when digital tuners came on the market and we didn't want to give people the wrong frequency--the signal was bad enough as it was!). Probably more trivia than you wanted to know! Mike..." - - - - - - - - - - - - "Hey Brent and Bleek: I was going through some boxes this weekend and found a bunch of my airchecks from 1984-1987. I haven't found any complete broadcasts so far--just the mic breaks--but I'm still hoping. I made these tapes so I could listen to them at home and improve my performance (I should have listened to them more often--I wasn't quite as amusing as I thought I was!). I was pretty excited to find about half of the breaks from the first edition of "Made In The States," because I thought that the first 12 shows were lost forever. Except for 2 or 3 weeks when Debbie Paine guest-hosted, I have shows #13 through 148 (my last show), which are all complete, including commercials. Do either of you have any interest in those? I plan on digitizing them and burning them to CD soon. I also found myself announcing some songs that are not on the playlist Brent put together from my site. Those are: Passionel - "The Yellow Boat" (1984) The Jonzun Crew - "Time Is Running Out" (1984) For the locals list, the song we played by Beat Pagodas was "All That Glitters" and the one by the Work Party was called "The Work Song." I'm still looking for the CD-ROM that has my KJET Web site on it, so I can upload it. In the meantime, thanks to both of you for doing such a great job of keeping The Jet alive! I was listening to Brent's Web version of KJET the other night and it really took me back to the mid 1980s. I've recently been collecting KJET music and now have about 600 songs on CD. I bought an audio restoration software package and, as soon as I get a replacement stylus for my turntable, will begin digitizing some of my record collection. If there's anything you're looking for, please let me know. Unfortunately, I don't have much of the local stuff. Some--just not a ton. Still your pal, Mike Fuller..." - - - - - - - - - - - "Hi Bleek, Been listening to your KJET black box on Live 365 and enjoying every minute. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane!!! Not sure whether you're still looking for KJET recordings to add to your collection. I have probably 4 or 5 hours worth on cassette tape that I recorded in...I believe...1987. Know you prefer 82-86, but I'd be happy to burn them to CD sometime for you if they would be useful to you. Best Regards, Michael Svob" -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- - - - - "Bleek, on your broadcaster comments page you ask for suggestions. i remember hearing the Crazy 8's and the Damned but i don't remember any others specifically. The Damned did "Alone Again Or...." it took me several years to find out who that was and then to find it. but i do know i heard it first on KJET. Dave" - - - - - - - - - - - - "Hey, I recently just found the KJET tribute web site and it's great to see that so many people still appreciate the music that was made then. I was going to school in Ellensburg in '87 and being unable to hear anything remotely current or hip over there, I would gladly look forward to any chance I could get to hear the new stuff back in the city. When I found the station was leaving, I recorded about 5 hours worth of music so I would have something to listen to. I've got Fuller and Debbie P. on it with all the station ID's. There is also some Mission UK, Captain Sensible, Immaculate Fools etc. on it. If you're interested I'll send it along to you, no money needed maybe a couple of tapes in return? -Andrew Snapp" - - - - - - - - - - "Hey Bleek! I just by accident came across your Kjet station on Live 365. Thank God you saved those tapes! I live and grew up here in Seattle and one of my favorite stations was Kjet. I've been looking for YEARS some of the song you play. So keep up the great work and I can't seem to get to your website. if you could forward the web address (that's if it's still going). Happy Holidays!!!! barb perry seattle, wa" - - - - - - - - - - "Hey, I lived in Seattle during the entire life of kjet and listened to it religiously in the early years and while driving in the last two years. It is so fantastic to listen to it again and here this music, some of which is impossible to get. SO glad I found this. I have it on all the time at home now, turned off the tv for company now that I have KJET again. I live in Sacramento, CA now but have fond memories of living in Seattle during the early 80's when it was still fun to live there and not trendy to live there. THanks for the memories. I'm waiting to here a Band/song that I haven't heard for a long time and hope it's on one of your tapes from 1983, one of the best years of KJET. Dial M-House of Joy It is one of many Bands/songs I can no longer find and didn't buy when it was new. My search for it actually eventually led to finding KJET. I'll keep my fingers crossed, David" - - - - - - - - - - - "Hola, Wanted to say hey, "hey" & thanks, "thank you", for KJET. Major flashbacks and songs I had totally forgotten about. Cool cool! I'm curious as to wether or not you remember KZAM-1540 "Rock Of The 80's". I thought I was gonna die when they went off the air. Not long after came KJET & how glad I was! You Rock! Sincerely, Dean Secord" - - - - - - - - - - "Oh, mah gah. Do you ever find something that you never knew you needed until you found it? That's how I feel about finding your Live365 KJET station. I grew up in Puyallup and in Jr. High was shopping at Value Villahge and listening to KJET...continued to listen to KJET when I graduated high school and moved to Seattle to go to the Art Institute. This is bringing back such memories; I love it! I just shared the link with a friend (who went to Penninsula HS, btw) so that we can both groove like dorks to get through the workday with KJET. Thanks a lot! Lovin' it. Jane" - - - - - - - - - - "Hi, saw your request for some Moberlys on the NWO...I used to LOVE KJET ! Great station; I have listened to your tribute station in the past and I liked it. Jim Basnight & The Moberlys – “Rest Up”:" - - - - - - "Bleek, I grew up in Seattle listening to KJET so obviously I love your station and listen to it a lot. I like some of your songs but cannot find anywhere to buy or download. Do you have any ideas on sites that would be good for the more obscure songs? Also I'm looking for the Seattle band 'Visible Targets' who sang 'Twilight Zone', do you have a copy of that one? Steve W. Miller" - - - - - - - - "Hello, My name is Laurie Lyons and I was a member of the Seattle band The Social Lites. We loved KJET! I think we had 3 songs on heavy rotation at one time or another..And KCMU was very good to us as well. Thank you for the memories. I will send some of our tunes in an attachment if you like and am thinking of starting a Social Lites MySpace page..I'll try to contact my other band mates. Mark Clear- co-writer Lead vocals and Lead Guitar Joan M- Bass and Backing vocals Steve "phun" Hadley- Drums Laurie Lyons- co writer- Lead Vocals and Rhythm guitar Maybe a reunion of sorts is in order for us...Has it been 25 years?? I have a myspace page of some songs I have written and performed over the last few years... www.myspace.com/laurielyons Great taking a trip down memory lane! Cheers, Laurie Lyons" - - - - - - - - - - "Sweet, I stumbled upon your streaming KJET station when doing an entry on KJET for my blog. Totally great, I hope it's cool to link to it, I've been listening to it today and remembering being 15 again. Somewhere in my piles of crap I know I taped a couple shows as well, if I ever unearth it, I'll be contacting you. If you want to check out the blog entry I did on KJET, it's at: http://10thingszine.blogspot.com/2007/07/kjet.html --dan" - - - - - - -
