  • Bio

*What follows is the original bio on our MySpace. Some time has passed since it was written, so I added an update at the end to bring us up to date. Formed from the ashes of the Furious George collective in early 2006. We started out some chill kinks/louis armstrong folk stuff, but some rollicking Who covers and some nice originals crafted our signature sound. Alright, so Aaron didn't have a band after the 2005 Battle of the Bands, as Furious George basically collapsed after their last (and best) performance out of hardcore apathy (besides Aaron), so he spent serious time diving into the old Americana he had loved for a long time and thought that no one was doing(folk and country-blues, mostly). By the time of the 2006 BOB, only the monstrous jam band Chunky Moonshine Revival Group (made up of David on drums+anyone who could or tried to play something) remained, and Aaron was about to go onstage by himself with an acoustic. But in a remarkable, flick-of-the-wrist type twist of fate, Kyle said he'd back Aaron up on bass at a BOB meeting; and later David and Erin McInturff joined on drums and keyboard, respectively. So anyway, this hastily formed first incarnation of TVA (named as such when Aaron was idly flipping through an American history book) practiced a handful of curious tunes that included "Tangled Up In Blue," "20th Century Man," "Salt Of the Earth," and a new original called "Only the Morning." The performance was terrifying, hectic, glorious, and a wee bit sloppy. But the word "good" was circulated more often than not, and TVA even made it into the finals! They didn't win of course. Erin had come down sick and they needed her so that they could play SOTE (which they didn't know in the first place). So they played a raucous version of "Let Her Roll It," an old FG original and standby that had served well in the past. They cleverly disguised the fact that they'd never played the song before, or at least in a year, and the performance was a precursor of things to come. (The first LHRI in the player is TVA, the second is ol' FG) After that performance, the enthusiasm died down a bit, and the lack of a show on the immediate horizon caused Erin's departure; being not up to the task of hanging out with retarded guys all of the time who were less than productive. A fateful 'first official TVA practice of the year' confirmed this and other things. One being that Aaron's motivation of creating a rootsy, Band-like folk-rock band was unfeasible due to the musicians involved (both not being interested and not being those sort of musicians). And the other was that Erin was soon to leave. That whole day, however, Aaron had an interesting musical phrase in his head that became, that night, "Blood On My Wings." This song, and Erin's absence (no offense, Erin!!!) led to the formation of the present incarnation/idea of TVA (also probably urged on by Aaron's interest in the Who): to be a really good, solid, rock'n'roll 3-piece. We think we do alright, and we try our hardest to be a good band that focuses on songs, and especially on writing their own (in whatever direction that goes). Hopefully with none of that cock-rock banality. But anyway, that's what we're all about! We're going to try to stay together through college and continue this idea. We think it's a good 'un. Written in all honesty in the third person, Aaron Update: January 27, 2008 Alright, so here's the situation. All three of us are going to different colleges as you already know, but the situation is nothing like how I feared. The condo in San Antone has developed into the ideal retreat for working on stuff, recording, and hanging out in general. That's where we've recorded our new song, Hobo Reservation. Anyway, the enthusiasm is running high these days, partly because we can commute fairly easy to this new location and we have new songs in development. The idea really is that if you can continue working on something, there's a reason to have a band. As long as ideas are around, the band can exist. Well, that's about it. Keep on the lookout (if you are in the first place). Aaron Update: November 30, 2009 Things are different. Not worse or better, but different. The condo has more or less been knocked out of the running as a consistent musical hangout, but in San Marcos, a family has come together in a duplex in which there is tremendous insulation and noisier neighbors. Here, is where our base of operations has landed. There continues to be excitement in and around the band, the band has fun playing together (and sounds good too) and we can play whenever we want! I thought people might be curious... Aaron Update: August 3, 2010 Things have looked great for us in 2010! Played a show in May then July, looking forward to more recording and possibilities of gigs with good friends and fellow artists! Dave's in San Marcos now, that makes things easier. Keep listening, we have more fun that way! Aaron .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..

Keep in mind, this is just some of our favorite and influential music between the three of us (you get a commemorative pizzatrophy if you can match each band to its band member haha). It's not necessarily what we sound like. But when we write and when we play, any of this could come out. It just depends.
  • Sounds Like

Geese farts on a foggy day. Balls-to-the-wall rock (so far). If you get us together in a room to play just whatever, that's naturally where we lean, it seems like... .. .. .. .. .. .. This clip and the others in the our videos thing are from the Battle of the Bands (the first one cut off the beginning and the Contenders, so I put another clip of the same thing on there). For those who weren't there! (We should have been in the finals so we could have played Blood On My Wings!!!!!!!)
