  • Bio

Craig Young- Born in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada. He's been playing the guitar since the age of seven, started playing in his first band around the age of thirteen or so. Rock n' Roll and Country music became the main avenues of learning, and in the 80’s and 90’s played in many Newfoundland country and rock bands. Moving to Alberta in 93 allowed for Young to play lead guitar with several prominent local artists on the club scene. "The clubs are where I developed my playing," states Craig. "Being in a four piece band, where I was the only soloist, I had to cover everything from guitar to pedal steel guitar to fiddle...You just had to learn how to think on your feet." By the year 2000 Craig was performing with a lot of Canadian recording acts like Jason McCoy, Patricia Conroy, Rick Tippee, Lyndia Scott, Eli Barsi, Gord Bamford, George Canyon, Ken McCoy, Duane Steele, Kenny Hess and Carolyn Dawn Johnson. "In the Canadian scene, you kind of jump around from artist to artist, as they all hire who might be available at the time. I got lucky in that I was able to pick up a lot of gigs and stay busy.” Doing a solo pub gig at the time allowed for Craig to be able to jump and go when the situation arose. It was during one of those times, while working with Jason McCoy and opening the Terri Clark show, that he was given a chance to be a part of the Terri Clark band. After an audition, and a move to Nashville Tennessee, Craig was a part of the Terri Clark band for nearly eight years. “It was the only band that I have ever been in for that long. It never feels like it was that long- I think it’s the fact that all the members of the band are such excellent people, and great friends. It was one of the best experiences of my career and my life.” Craig has won four CCMA awards for The Canadian Country Music Association All Star Band- Guitarist category. Young has had several top 40 singles, including the Top 10 Video on Canadian CMT “You Can’t Take It With You” with the wonderful help of Miss Terri Clark. Craig now lives and performs in th St. John's Newfoundland area, and teaches at a school in Paradise, called New Wave Music. .. .......... ..........
