'Unique talent', 'beautiful', 'insightful songwriter' – these are all terms you've heard a thousand times before about at least twice as many singer-songwriters, which is a shame, because you'll need more to describe Australia's Jess McAvoy, a powerhouse both on and off the stage, now ready to spread the word across North America and Europe.

Having started performing her own original material while a young teenager, Jess McAvoy has a catalogue of over 200 songs, has released 10 records under her own indie imprint (Henduwin Music), played sell-out shows across Australia in its coolest clubs and venues in addition to coveted support slots with artists that comprise Australia's music royalty across rock/folk/soul/indie and acoustic genres.

Oh yeah, and she's barely 30.

More than just a singer, musician and songwriter, Jess McAvoy is a business – not 'fiercely independent' so much as adventurous, dedicated, savvy and determined – having never waited for permission to play, record or release her material, she's a respected and well-liked figure among Australia's music community – from the musicians, bookers and venue managers, right through to the bar staff, bouncers and door-bitches.
