About me:
Very easy going. Hate intolerancey. Am fascinated and appalled in equal measure at the whole celebrity bling culture.
Getting into the Modish lifestyle in the early 80s introduced me to Soul music, the cornerstone from which my music tastes are built on.
I found out about the biggest drug of my life by accident at a scooter rally 1n about 1991 - DJing. The Scooter Club I was in held a rally at Carlingford and we took turns at playing records. The feeling was amazing and I couldn't believe that on the second night of the Rally no one objected to me doing the night myself. My music tastes had developed over the 80s so my set did have elements outside the Northern, Ska and 2 Tone norm. (Guns 'n' Roses did have a few detracters!)
The Mod Scooter thing gave me an insight into intolerance as I found open hatred directed at me just because of what I wore, the scooter I rode and the fact that all the Mods in my hometown were Catholic and as a Protestant I was regarded as a 'fenian lover'. Threats were never far away and my route up town was planned to avoid groups of bigots.
Anyway after my first DJing hit I needed more. It took a while but I got a residency in my hometown at the only alternative venue. Riding my scooter laden with records the 40 miles form Belfast each Friday was what I lived for.
Alternative music took a severe nosedive in Northern Ireland in the mid 90s and the venue changed music policy and I left.
In 1998 I got a residency at the famous/infamous Vico's in Belfast. 4 floors of quality alternative underground music: 1 Floor non commercial Hip Hop: 1 floor Techno: 1 floor quality House: and my floor Soul, Funk, Indie, Rock, 60s Beat, Ska and 2 Tone. After 3 years and a fallout with the owner 'you work here and nowhere else' I left.
I now DJ in Lavery's Back Bar, another Belfast institution, most Saturdays and every Sunday night. On Saturdays I just play what I like from virtually every genre of counter culture (see my music list). On Sundays I play original Soul and Funk from the 60s and 70s.
I am no anorak and don't feel I have much of a musical knowledge. After DJing in darkened cupboards I tend to know my tracks by the 3rd track on side 3 rather than by name. I only play stuff I love and thankfully enough other people like it to keep me going. Like I say 'I don't know much about music but I know what I like'

Who I'd like to meet:
I think it would be easier to say who I would not like to meet. This business of 'oh wouldn't it be boring if we were all the same' is bollocks, there would still be enough diversity if there were some kind of cull. So when I become a multi billionaire I will build a modern day superluxury Ark and will entice the following list of people onboard, sail it by radio control into the middle of nowhere and sink it. Jade, The Spice Girls (especially Posh), Boy Band puppets/muppets, Girls Aloud, Beyonce + all the R'n'B bling merchants , The obsession with Pete Doherty, Politicians, The Judiciary,Reality TV 'Stars', Paris Hilton + her mate, Tabloid Journalists ('Paedo Devil Dog ate my sandwichs'), Pop Factor X idiots ('once I had my 15 minutes of fame they were all so mean'),Racists, Homophobes, the 'we know what's best for you' moral majority/Organised Religion, Jeremy Clarkson, MTV, Hello/OK writers, The Royal Family. Thats all for now that I can think of but check regularly in case you make it on and beware of dodgy invites to a super luxury A-List cruise.
I have been accused of being a Fascist because of my cull theory however Fascism is sooo 1940s, Benign Dictatorship is the future!
