Looking forward to this year's festival. What a powerful theme, "Free the Captives." Just listening to the inspiration verses being read was a blessing -- can't wait to see what everyone did with the verses! We love this 168 Community.

    in the news

The 168 FILM FESTIVAL 2008 was a smashing success. Not only was the first international award from RED ONE Camera handed out to the 168 Film Team of "Stained," but a jam packed ALEX THEATRE saw films from 12 countries, including the award winning "Coppelius" from Germany, which also merited a SPECIAL JURY AWARD for Technical Excellence.

Legendary singer Pat Boone was on hand to present awards and Media City Church's Pastor Rick Fry gave a memorable sermon on "Expectations from God." Along with John Ware's introductory comments on transforming our culture, the tone was set for a memorable evening.

We can not thank John Ware and the 168 Staff enough for providing such an excellent venue for all the films to premiere. It is the best presentation of any film festival in Hollywood, hands down!

Behind the scenes, Darren Gould and his team at Capitol Film & Video presented the films with outstanding technical quality. the 12k lumen projector along with Sony's XDCam filled the 46 ft. screen at the Alex with stunning images. Jerrold Launer made sure everything sounded great and the post-production process even made DV films look like theatrical release features on the Big Screen. WOW. These guys nailed it!

Paul Luebbers handled the dual role of Festival and Project Director with style and versatility. The program books looked amazing and he and John tagged team to intro the screenings with humor and style. You got to love these guys.

VIP treatment in the Coachworks Trailer was complete with a wonderful dinner and great networking opportunites. Everything was first class.

Special Thanks to Mike Cahill for covering the event photography and providing such great images. His touching film "Surface Of The Moon" also premiered at the festival.

Special thaks to TBN Broadcasting Network for covering the event. Look for 168 films and filmmakers to share their testimony and films on TBN's "BEHIND THE SCENES"

Who I'd like to meet:

168 stories

When you participate in the 168, God gets involved in your work. As wild as it may seem, take a look at these stories. You can not deny that's God power is at work, changing lives, healing and ministering to people. A filmmaker who takes the 168 journey is going to understand God in a deeper way. When you bring the livng Word of God into a project it has a profound affect on everyone involved.

verse cahill

It all starts on VERSE NIGHT. Every team randomly picks a verse from a set of stones placed on the table. Whatever you pick is the verse you will make your film on. Some people call it coincidence, some luck, but take a look at what really happens when you PICK THAT STONE. Here's Chris Douridas story.

Filmmaker Jim OKeefe's life was changed when he made a film for the 168.
