Paul's Interests
|
| General | see above. music, literature and travel are why i bother to go to work. | | Music | grew up with and still have an affinity for "classic rock", though for the most part, could probably go a good long while without hearing those things again. lately been into folk, jazz and blues. i'll try almost anything, but the louder it is the less likely i am to like it. what can i say, i'm getting old. seriously, let me hear a guy playing an acoustic guitar, even with mistakes and a gravelly voice, and i'll give him his props as a writer/performer. i want art---not glitz. | | Movies | not big on the cinema, but most movies i see, i like, just cuz i tend to be picky. would rather watch a foreign flick than a hollywood blockbuster. | | Television | almost never. | | Books | i'll read anything by edward abbey or joan didion. have lately been turned on to dave eggers---he's a good one. i'll read anything literary, but really good comedy, which is hard to come by, is great too. (o, douglas adams, we hardly knew ye.) | | Heroes | martin luther king, ghandi and jesus. three guys who'd take a kick in the head, if the cause was just. don't think i'm that tough myself. |

Paul's Blurbs |
About me:
not much to tell. love music, reading, travel (though i don't do it nearly enough) and food. those are my passions. however, a good rousing piss-us-both-off discussion about politics is always fun as well.
|
Who I'd like to meet:
not really here to "meet" anyone, but i'm drawn to anyone with half a brain and a decent sense of humor (read: laughs at my jokes). will discuss topical things with anyone in an intelligent fashion, but won't waste time on someone who just says, "i'm right---you're wrong." not only is it close-minded, it's not very interesting.
