About me:

My name is Timothy Prindle. I am a certified horseshoer turned barefoot trimmer. After pulling shoes on some of my clients’ horses, I noticed the integrity of the hoof quickly becoming improved over the time span of only two or three trims. Just the relief of having shoes off seemed to take care of half the problem. The rest was simply about conservative, intelligent trimming. It is my intention as a natural hoof practitioner, to provide my clients with punctual appointments. I make it a point to return phone calls in a timely manner, as well as show up with a friendly attitude. I have graduated from the prestigious farrier program at Cornell University. Trained under natural horsemanship expert Monty Roberts, as well as versed myself in precise trimming techniques I have acquired through trimming wild horses feet. There are barefoot trimmers out there who base their trims on the Mustang foot – studying a dead replica. Well, I have spent 6 years trimming the live Mustang and thoroughly understand the components which make the Mustang hoof the healthiest hoof today. I will use this knowledge as well as the clinical skills learned from Cornell to adapt domestic horses feet into stronger, healthier hooves. The barefoot trim adapts a domestic horse’s hoof into callused sole, frog and hoof wall – strong enough to compete with the iron shoe. The difference is that without iron, the natural compression and decompression of the hoof on ground allows for the horse’s natural blood pump to operate the way it was intended, resulting in healthy hoof growth. Pete Ramey, author of "Making Natural Hoof Care Work For You" states, "Once competent natural trimming begins, the coffin bone will be lifted higher. Solar concavity forms as the bone moves higher off the ground, and the horse will become more able every day. Steady trimming activates growth, thickening and hardening just as hard wear would."
