Ellis is a rising star in the independent music scene. With music that is described as “joyful, unpretentious modern folk”, Ellis continues to build attention at venues and festivals throughout the country with heart-felt songs that reflect her sincere graciousness, vibrant nature, and contagious sense of humor. You’ll quickly be drawn in by her warmth and real-life journeys as reflected in her songs.

A native of Texas, Ellis moved to Minneapolis at the age of 16, where she quickly built a local following that blossomed into a nationwide presence, with extensive touring and six albums released in the last twelve years. In addition to selling 40,000 copies of her CDs independently, Ellis has accrued a wealth of accomplishments including national songwriting honors and performances at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Sisters Folk Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival.

Upcoming Album: RIGHT ON TIME

Ellis is currently completing the recording of her seventh album, Right On Time. It will feature several fan-favorite songs including "Coming Home To You", "Right On Time" and "The Coffee Song" and a brand new song that is quickly drawing attention: "You Are Royalty To Me". The production is more stripped down and acoustic, with several songs limited to voice and guitar, while others include pedal steel, bass, piano, and harmonium.

The album will be released in September, 2010.

Most Recent Recording: BREAK THE SPELL

Ellis’ critically acclaimed sixth album was recorded with talented producer Ben Wisch. Highlighting her powerful clear vocals, skilled songwriting and catchy guitar rhythms, this beautiful recording has greatly expanded Ellis’ following. The songs are supported by well-placed additions from Duke Levine (guitars), Zev Katz (bass), and Joe Bonadio (drums) along with cameo appearances from Shawn Pelton (drums) and Jonatha Brooke (backing vocals).

Since being released in Feb 2008, Break The Spell has been selected at a TOP DIY Pick for the June 2008 issue of Performing Songwriter Magazine. It was also voted Best Female Singer Songwriter Album in the 2009 Just Plain Folks Music Awards.
