Something I Might Regret is available from itunes. click on album cover: ........ .. Similar to less fussy post-punkers, The Police, The Smiths and Elvis Costello, the Greenwich quartet don't muck about when it comes to knocking together the kind of thorny three-minute gems that infect the mind and force the foot to tap in an uncontrollable manner. .. .. 2005 saw the Alps release their debut single 'World at War', which became Gigwise.com's 'Single of the week' - "A tale of yearning for that elusive loved one, it's surprisingly optimistic and stylish stuff." The track was also supported by XFM, who invited the band to record two live sessions, as well as Radio One's Steve Lamacq and Zane Lowe. The band were invited to play backstage at the Reading Festival Tiscali Showcase along with the likes of The Subways, Graham Coxon, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Futureheads. .. .. Five more singles, triumphant European Headline Tours, a prestigious Mighty Boosh Aftershow Party and the attendance of David ‘The Hoff’ Hasselhoff at a headline Koko show have seen The Alps continue to win a host of new fans, so many in fact that they have secured £21,000 of backing directly from the most dedicated through slicethepie.com, a new music website phenomenon. .. .. Debut album 'Something I Might Regret', produced by Dave Allen (The Cure, Depeche Mode) and Mark Ralph (Filthy Dukes) released in 2008 and is available in stores and online now..... Sounds Like
.. SINGLE OF THE WEEK "it's surprisingly optimistic and stylish stuff. Better still, the feisty chorus with the line "You make things better/ You make things alright", was enough to make this bitter, cynical old hack's hairs almost stand on end." GIGWISE .."Nice to listen to, just as nice to look at." ARTROCKER .."bringing a confident new sound back to London." XFM .."overblown pseudo-pop...in a good way!" NARC .."After several pints it'll sure get the feet shuffling. 9/10" ROCK SOUND .."One day bands will cite The Alps as an influence on their work" DISORDER .."They're a band we're going to have to get familiar with, and we should be glad we have the chance to, so start getting used to them now." THE FLY .."David Hasslehoff likes them, who am I to argue? 4/5" SPILL .."4/5 positively champing at the bit. The verse, a marching army of stunted chords, is trapped in a barking, bullying groove. Like a toy car, it's a song pulled back and ready to gun off into the skirting board..." DROWNED IN SOUND .."Catchy, punky little number.. a 3 minute burst of a single." I LIKE MUSIC.. .... ..
