Who I'd like to meet:

We are the dirtiest, cockiest, and most irresponsible group of athletes in the world. We will do anything and come back to tell our teamates about it. We live the dream until we are 50 and then realize that we never made it. Ladies love us, guys want to be us, and we are the souls of the universe. We lace up our spikes, put on our gloves, grab a ball, and sprint onto the diamond and nothing else matters. It doesn't matter that you failed a test, your girl is being a bitch, or that you got a ticket on the way there...Our world is absolutely perfect for the next nine innings. Here's to singles, doubles, triples, home runs, steals, walks, balls, strikes, pick-offs, run downs, mound visits, pitching changes, grand slams, errors, double plays, bunts, chew, hit-n-runs, conference games, spring trips, new spikes, jocks, Saturday mornings, thousands of memories, fans, coaches, old school rock, the word "fuck", miracles, and most of all the game BASEBALL. Why? Why do we run sprints night after night? Playing so hard that we don't want to play anymore. Long bus rides, early mornings, long practices, blisters, dislocations, hit by pitches, and hot afternoons. We play through it all. Because we live off that big hit in the last inning or the web gem in the outfield, because the game frees our spirits, because the party on the bus ride home is so fine, because we are invincible once we step on the diamond, because a base hit or nice play can make us smile all night, the popping of mitts, the clashing of bats, the feel of the baseball or the feel of the victory we are about to get and the jog around the outfield is a rhythm to live by, because it's possible to play hard enough to leave all our worries behind. Dirt is the cologne of our accomplishments. Why? Why would someone play so hard? It's not for the money, it's not for the girls, and it's not for the fame. We do it for the love of the game-BASEBALL
