Bio
This web site is dedicated to the life and musical career of one of my all time favourite guitarists, Alan Murphy, one the most talented rock/pop/fusion guitarists to emerge from the UK in the 80's. As a much sought-after session player, credits include, Kate Bush, Go West and Level 42, as well as his own project SFX. I was lucky enough to meet him briefly just before his untimely and tragic death in 1989 from complications brought on by the Aids virus. I would like to hear from anyone who appreciates Alan's guitar playing and also from anyone with information that will help me to build this page. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Jon Beedle .... ...... -

SFX featuring Alan Murphy Recorded in 1984 at Marquee and Aosis studios, SFX features the late Alan Murphy who worked with Kate Bush, Go West, Scritti Politti and Level 42, among others. Guitarist magazine said: "The album gives a clearer picture of the man's potential, showing a young, spirited guitarist, keen to try anything ... 10 of 34MoreHi so sorry to hear, Alan was/is so amazing, one of my heros, All the Love and blessings, Georgina xoxoxoxo
Thanks for adding me. I was a regular at the Stapleton All-Stars and SFX gigs. Great memories.
Alan... We met 30 years ago this month!!!... So many years ago... And we all still miss you so much....
Life keeps touring!!.... Even without you....
I was just listening to Go West's Dancing On The Couch in the car this weekend. Alan's playing on that record is wonderfully sublime, particularly on "From Baltimore To Paris" and "Masque Of Love". Talk about chills.
Greetings Mr. Alan,

And many thankee's for inviting this humble tree-dweller, musician, and proud owner of MySpace's bushiest, twitchiest tail, to join your friends and acquaintances.
I miss Murph's unique guitar style which I found inspiring from the moment I heard it while he was waiting for Go West to break the big-time.
For me, it seamlessly linked jazz and rock into one style.
Salut.
Beware the evil grey skwirrells and may you always find the juicy acorns.

I can rememeber Alan playing live with Level 42 in Paris on December 1988. Fantastic gig and Alan's charisma and skill fitted right with the band's energy on stage.
Nice memories...
