TOPLESS AMERICA!

A documentary for our mountains.

We are a group of students, artists, and activists living in Chicago who are on a mission to educate and make a difference in the fight against mountaintop removal and the destruction caused by America's coal companies. We are currently in the process of producing our first Mountain Top Removal documentary, Topless America, in which our team joins the rising movement against the greatest environmental and civil atrocity in our nation's history; MOUNTAIN TOP REMOVAL.

The fact is that every day entire ranges of Appalachian mountains are being destoyed with EXPLOSIVES. Valleys, streams, rivers, and underground water tables are being filled with TOXIC COAL WASTE. People are DYING. CHILDREN are being SLOWLY POISIONED every day. An entire culture is being EXTERMINATED.

Our goal is to involve others who share the same respect for mountains and the people who live on and around them and to provide opportunities for those who are not familiar with Mountain Top Removal to learn about the devastating strip-mining process which is ravishing the American heartlands and causing irreversable damage to our environment, our country, and our own people.

Chicago is our base, however, our crew and supporters are comprised of people from all over, not just Appalachians. Although not all of us are native to regions directly affected by Mountain Top Removal, our group's dedication to the preservation of mountain heritage is sincere and our determination to stop the razing of the nation's landscape is resolute.

Topless America is a collaboration of individuals who stem from many different backgrounds, both geographically, culturally, and professionally. We are students and teachers, mothers and fathers, artists and business people, democrats and republicans, from above and below the Mason-Dixon Line, working together for one cause: TO STOP MOUNTAIN TOP REMOVAL!

We hope to show our audience that people working together can create positive change. We want the world to know how strongly we feel about the preservation of Appalachia and mountain culture everywhere. For our team, this project is not just a documentary. This is a story about real people born into the world at a time when our own species are rapidly destroying it. The film is intended as a testament of the sincerity we feel for this cause.
