(2/23/2007) ALL COUNTY BAND
Band students from Rockingham, Ellerbe, Rohanen, and Hamlet Jr Highs spent the day together studying music and performed Thursday evening at Rockingham Jr High. The band was lead by Richmond Senior High director Mike Ward and their concert sounded great for 8th and 9th graders who only had one day to prepare. Their performance included: "Ancient Voices" by Michael Sweeney, "Clouds" by Anne McGinty, and "African Sketches" by James Curnow. The students were fed lunch and dinner courtesy of Pattan Construction and the Richmond County Band Boosters.
There are a few pictures from Thursday's All County Band Concert online. Click Here
(2/03/2007) STUDENTS ATTEND SAXOPHONE DAY
On Saturday, February 3rd, two students from Richmond Senior High
School participated in the 2nd annual saxophone day at Wingate University.
This event was an opportunity for saxophone players from around the area
to participate in master classes and reading sessions with Dr. David
Garcia, director of bands at Wingate University, and the Wingate Faculty
Jazz Ensemble. The event concluded with a concert that featured all
participants.
The two participants were Timothy Alexander, a senior at Richmond
Senior High, and Brandon Arnette, a sophomore at Richmond Senior High.
