No Time to Say Goodbye, by Carla Fine
Here we go again! We're walking in this year's Overnight!
My name is Lauren (aka Lauie), and I am participating in the New York City Overnight walk on June 7-8, 2008. This event is to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The goal is to create awareness about depression and suicide, remove the social stigma that exists around these subjects, and raise money for the only non-profit organization that supports research in these fields. The walk is 20 miles, taking place between dusk and dawn, the darkest time, a time when many feel so alone, in hopes that we can shine a light of awareness, of understanding, of compassion on those who are suffering and those who we loved who gave up hope.
I am walking in memory of my friend Chris, who died on January 25, 2007. I must raise $1,000 to participate, and I would greatly appreciate any donations, large or small. It would be so meaningful to me to participate in this event once again.

Who I'd like to meet:Anyone who's life has been affected by depression, mental illness, or suicide. Whether you have attempted suicide, are a suicide survivor, or have mental illness in your family or circle of friends, I am doing this for you... for us.
I hope you will support me so I can help bring these issues into the light.
