The creation of art has been an
important element in my life since I was a teenager. Like many
artists before me, free hand drawings first attracted my attention and
gave me great enjoyment. Drawing and art have been important
outlets throughout my life and have helped me make it through some
rough times. Over the years, my interest in the creation of art and art
history have only deepened. I work predominately in acrylics on
canvas with occasional works of pencil (color and graphite) on vellum
and photography.
I spent many years working in the electronics
industry as well as the printing industry but felt unfulfilled in those
endeavers. In 2001, I left a career (of 15 years) in electronics to be
a stay at home dad and artist. Printing (5 years) was an
invaluable education in the inner workings of the printed form, it was
a wonderful experience but not something that matched my desire to
create unique forms.
I'm also fascinated with art history and how we've
gotten to where we are in art today. I greatly admire artist's
from various displines in visual arts. Sculpting, painting,
drawing, photography and mixed media hold special interest. Wyeth
(both NC and Andrew), de Kooning, Picasso, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh,
Hopper,
Escher, Rodin, Michelangelo, Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keefe are some
of my inspirations for their incredible body of works.
