Liberal, because I believe in the freedom of individuals to pursue their own happiness, with the minimum of interference from government.
Sceptical of the state, trusting people to make the most of their lives, confident about the possibilities of the future - this is liberalism.
And Conservative, because I believe that we're all in this together - that there is a historical understanding between past, present and future generations, and that we have a social responsibility to play an active part in the community we live in.
Conservatives believe in continuity and belonging; we believe in the traditions of our country which are embedded in our institutions.
Liberal and Conservative.
Individual freedom and social responsibility."
David Cameron, Thursday March 22nd, 2007.
Who I'd like to meet: This is not an official Conservative Party website, nor does it necessarily reflect therein the views of the Conservative Party.
- We want small government, but we also want a good NHS. - We want fairer taxes, but we understand we need revenue for institutions such as the NHS and (by the looks of things at the mo) the army. - We want society to rediscover a backbone; that means the family, and supporting marriage through tax breaks. - We want human rights, but not when it protects the criminal over the victim. - We understand that perfect doesn't necessarily mean good. - We are strongly opposed to the surveillance state and the culture of fear instigated by an underhand Labour government.
As someone once said: "If this is Conservatism, I am a Conservative."
Hi TLC What's your opinion on David Cameron's speech. Didn't think there was much substance in there. Apart from his promise to rein in Govt borrowing and reform public services. Sounds like a 'Policy of Austerity' if he's elected. But!!, I would agree with his tough-line on benefits. We need more people back in work who are fit for work
Noo, wasn't on the Beeb Parliament... But I was around Nick Robinson on the 10 O'Clock news last night. The interview they did with two of us CFers was on News 24 during the day though. Hope you're well, are you down for Conference?
Thanks for hooking up with The Conservative Fun House !!!

hello my favourite right winger! NO2ID Glasgow & Edinburgh in court on the 24th of July after being detained during a peaceful protest against closed consultations about the NIR and identity card scheme. We want the gov to talk to the PUBLIC about this legislation not the business community and we dont expect to be arrested for exercising our right to peaceful protest - time for a change?
Under your heroes you have both Disraeli and Thatcher, but if you like Thatcher, wouldn't you be more attracted to Gladstone than to Disraeli? And as a Liberal Conservative, do you sympathize more with the free market/individual liberty wing of the party or to the so-called moderates around Cameron?
NO2ID will be there supporting the issues DD is fighting for which are in line with our own agenda but as a group we will not be campaigning to get him re elected. non partisan single issue interests groups just dont do that! (NO2ID Glasgow members bags are getting packed ready to travel lol)
