A graduate of Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's of Arts in Nonprofit Administration. A graduate of Harvard University Divinity School Summer Leadership Institute. A graduate of Grace Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Divinity. Published author of "Breaking The Silence", The Impact of HIV/AIDS on African American Women and the Silence of the Church. Founder and Executive Director of AIDS Awareness Advocacy, Inc. a nonprofit that focuses on HIV/AIDS awareness, advocacy, and prevention education. Member os Moraine Valley Community College Area Planning Council for Adult Education. President of Vel's Travel Agency Inc. since 1984. She has received numerous Awards for her commitment to education and advocacy for the poor. In 2002 she received the Woman of Distinction Award for Community Service from the Whispering Oaks Girl Scouts Council, in 2004 she received the Outstanding Community Service award from Northeastern Illinois University. A third generation member of the Church of God In Christ, she is an active member of Argo Temple COGIC where her husband, Wheeler Parker is Pastor. She has served in many postions in the ministry: business administrator, choir director, soloist, Sunday School teacher, Youth Mentor, Chairman of the Women's Department and is a licensed Evangelists. She supports a ministry in Belize Central Amaerica at the Calvary Temple Church and School which has over 300 students.
