The 1850 project are a band from Wirral, England. The name originated from the fact that, in March 2009, Father and Son, Neil and Jonathan, turned 50 and 18 respectively, on the 28th and 29th of the month.
For this event, the band, consisting of Neil and Jonathan, along with Chris Davies (Cousin of Jonathan, Nephew of Neil, Former Drummer for Bands such as Dealine, and The Foundry) and Tony Longworth (Family friend, and bassist for Flesh Resonance and Morbid Symphony) played their first gig at St. Andrews Church hall. The set, which included 14 songs, as well as a few repeats, and a lot of unplanned, and frankly unfunny, jokes, lasted for approximately two hours.
Around this time, the bands first CD was released, titled 'The 1850 Project', the CD contained six songs; Summer Romance, This World Is Ours, Rock Bottom, Eternal Night, Maybe You Are Me, and After Death.
The band are currently working on a new album.
For recording purposes, Neil and Jonathan write, and record the songs alone, often with Jonathan taking the role of drummer and bassist. Although Neil has played bass on the recordings also.
For live purposes, Tony has been replaced on bass by Jonathan's friend Dan Tollitt (former guitarist/bassist for Deadline, Guitarist for Kerosene Climax).
The band are also currently looking for a new drummer, aged around the 26-50 mark. As part of a re-birth for the band.
