About me:
Poonie’s Cabaret is Links Hall’s venue for improvisation and works-in-progress. Featuring artists working in many different creative realms - dance, music, improvisation, puppetry, performance art, theatre, voguing, freestyle rapping, drag, burlesque, cheerleading, stand-up comedy, etc. Poonie’s Cabaret was created by Selene Carter and is named in loving memory for Poonie Dodson, a much-loved Chicago dancer/choreographer who died of AIDS in the early 90s. Audience members are asked for a $5 donation. Proceeds from the cabaret go to the Links Hall Duncan Erley Coming Out of the Closet Fund, which is periodically awarded to artists whose work explores the realms of healing, gay activism, and spiritual and sexual transformation. www.linkshall.org *Poonie's Cabaret is also on Facebook.Who I'd like to meet:
dancers, performance artists, musicians, puppeteers, writers, thinkers, filmmakers, cheerleaders, comedians, improvisors, burlesquers, movers & shakers, appreciators of live performance, volunteers, creative people, other art-makers, anyone not afraid to get on stage.Details

Using Robert Darnton's book The Great Cat Massacre and Other Episodes in French Cultural History as a jumping-off point, adapter and director Mikalina Rabinsky has created a high-spirited hybrid of commedia, puppetry, satire, profane parody, and Story Theater. Divided revue-style into nine interrelated but self-contained scenes, the show chronicles an 18th-century Parisian workers' revolt in which overworked apprentices took revenge on their slave-driving masters by slaughtering "sackloads" of their master's better-treated pets: house cats. The three-person ensemble--Susan Payne, Michael Quinn, and Jay Reed--leap from white-faced clowning to mask work to outrageous burlesque with prodigious grace, power, and aplomb in this Black Cat Theatre production. Payne's solo performance of a cat-filled opera parody is laugh-out-loud funny.

I do what I can. Thanks for calling me in on these, they're a ton of fun.
An evening of multi-disciplinary performance that asks: What aren't we talking about? This will be an amazing, one-of-a-kind melding of dancers, actors, performance artists, musicians, and others, all united to address a very meaningful, evocative question.

Breakbone features dancers Jyl Fehrenkamp, Tabitha Faes, Tina Gillis, Molly Grimm, Atalee Judy & LeAnne Vancil in the new sextet "datastarve".
