CROSS-TIE came about as an idea in November of 2006. At a fundraiser for a mutual musician friend (Fred Fogwell), original band members Skip Cason, Norm Heck, Chip Coburn and Terry Wissman decided to join forces for the first time as a group. Having known each other and having played together in various pairs over the last 30 plus years, they had never all played together in the same band. In November of 2007, another longtime friend of Skip and Terry, Glen Voorhees joined the group on guitar as well. Some things never stay the same, though, and with the summer of 2008 Terry and Glen decided to leave the band and pursue a less strenuous schedule as a duo.
Looking for new life and new blood, the band recruited Jerry Lynn Crank (guitar and vocals) and Warren Brannan (piano, keyboards and vocals) to kick things into gear. Bringing a new youthful (yeah, we call 'em "the new kids!") enthusiam and sound to the group, CROSS-TIE is rarin' to go with a new sound and lots of new songs.
The direction has changed to add some more modern country music, but still features the 4 and 5 part harmonies and guitar work that has been a trademark of CROSS-TIE since it's beginnings! Eagles, Brooks & Dunn, Travis Tritt, Little Feat, Eric Clapton, Keith Urban, John Mellencamp, Vince Gill, Toby Keith, Rolling Stones make up the general flavor of the band's cover tunes, and look for more originals from Skip, Chip and Norman to make it to the songlist soon!
Catch the double Telecaster B-string bender lead work from Skip and Jerry, the flying fingers of Warren on the keyboards and the solid bottom end from Stormin' Norman Heck on bass and acoustic guitar and Chip on drums - CROSS-TIE will deliver a rockin' good time!
