Hi!
Thank you for taking time to read about me and why I am on Myspace.
As you can see from my profile, I am here for networking. In fact I am here to share information with you about
My Favorite Website...
From 1967 through 1984, Don DeWit made a more than comfortable straight commission living selling crystal, china and waterless cookware. Some years, he out-earned his father, a federal postal worker. Starting at the young age of 19, he had succeeded in selling enough of it to help complete college at St. Ambrose in Davenport, Iowa where he earned a degree in business administration.
After graduation at age 21, DeWit moved to Kansas City, Missouri and continued his lucrative sales career, becoming one of the cookware company's youngest district managers. With his growing sales commissions, he was also wise enough to purchase a number of residential rental properties, his first one at age 22. By age 30, he owned 100 rental units and by 35 his net worth in real estate alone exceeded one million dollars.
One morning in 1983, he was having breakfast with a friend who owned several exercise gyms that also offered tanning services. When the topic of conversation turned to indoor tanning equipment, DeWit became fascinated. With his intuitive good sense, he set about researching the new industry that his friend said was going to be the "next big business boom." After flying to various equipment manufacturers and collecting information, he decided to "take the plunge," becoming a tanning equipment distributor in 1984.
"In 1984, tanning beds were selling like candy," he said. "Distributors couln't get them from the manufacturers fast enough," he stated. "The problem was, the next year the bottom dropped out of the market and they weren't selling at all."
DeWit concluded that he could expect better money at the salon level, so in 1985 he opened his first Nutri-Tan salon. "I named it Nutri-Tan because I wanted to portray a healthful image," he said, "to combine tanning and nnutrition. We have kept the theme going with the diet and health programs and products we carry in the salons." Within three years, he had opened five more Nutri-Tan salons.
By the time he married his wife Carol in 1990, DeWit owned six salons and his distributorship's business had revived, but he wasn't about ready to stop growing yet. With Carol taking control of the salons' reins, Don continued to acquire more stores, began to sell Nutri-Tan franchises and increased the scope of his distributorship. "When I started the distributorship, I carried only one lotion line," he said, "In 2000 we sell 22 of them."
. Don credits this growth to one main business philosophy: "If you provide your customers with quality products at affordable prices and give them great service, your business will grow." Proof of that philosophy is in the fact that when the year 2000 arrived, Dona and Carol had 12 tanning salons, (2 of them franchised), and the distributorship had expanded many times from its original 1,200 square foot of operational and storage space to 7,000 square feet. With this year's sales up 30% from last year, Don said plans are now being initiated to add on another 4,000 square feet of warehouse and office space, for a total of 11,000 square feet.
A second tanning bed and especially tanning lotion slow down plagued the Tanning Industry in the 2005/2006 busy season. Don took the necessary steps to restructure and downsize his Distributorships retaining his three top selling tanning bed lines; Tansun, Solar Storm and Soleil. These lines are the nucleus of the current operation. They were and remain the best of the best - if you will.
