Rastus is the biker cat who rode on the gas tank of his owner's motorcycle in New Zealand.Ý The owner's name was Max Corkill. In 1998, Max Corkill, his partner Gaynor Martin, and his cat Rastus died in the collision between their motorbike and a car near Urenui. 58 year old Max and his cat were known around the country as supporters of the SPCA and appear together on a tv commercial advertising Bell Tea.Heroes

About me:
Where to start... Max, Gaynor and Rastus have had such a huge impact on many people, both those they met and those they didn't. It seems that even now, almost 10 years after they were so tragically taken from us, people around the world are still moved by their story, and passion for working with animals................................................................. This site has been set up for people to post comments, share their own thoughts and feelings etc ........................................................................................... Hopefully, I will be able to post fairly regular blogs regarding the upcoming 10 year anniversary celebrations we are trying to plan for January 20th 2008 ................................................................................................... We are planning an around the mountain (Mt Taranaki, NZ)ride to take place on the anniversary, and are currently working through the very long list of things to do. ....................................................................................................... So for now, make sure you mark the date in your diary as there will be a memorial service prior to all those mighty motorcycles taking off around the beautiful mountain, lunch along the way and hopefully something at the end, back in New Plymouth to finish it all off for the day. ..Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / Top of the mount - Image Hosting
Who I'd like to meet:
I'd love to meet anyone who met my mother Gaynor, Max or Rastus, or anyone who knows of their story, or holds a special place in their lives for any animals, or just holds out hope for a better world.Details

I finally found more information about them! Max worked with my Dad when he was in Vancouver, B.C. He always had Rastus with him and actually found him while he was working at the Auto body shop there. He gave me pictures and a poster of the two of them with the motorcycle. I still have them and remember all the stories. My Dad still talks about Max and how he was the best man working for him while he was at the bodyshop! It was so sad to hear about them but I always look at the pictures and remember all the stories he told me about his and Rastus' adventures!
Thanks for the add Steph.
They captured our hearts.
Hubby remembers feeding Rastus some of his burger at the Wanganui boxing day circuit. He was smitten.
We loved catching glimpses of them around our Naki roads and always feel sadness when we head up north past where they left this Earth to ride the celestial highways.
The joy they brought still knows no bounds. Thanks for this page to remember them. Just seeing their pics give me the warm and fuzzies.
A little something to lighten your day :)
