Bio
Míle fáilte romhat go dtí mo leathanach beag ar MySpace. I have been playing harp since the age of ten and first studied Irish harp with my grandmother in Dublin. I also studied concert harp in the USA travelling back and forth a lot between 1987 and 1994. My first big trip was to Japan in 1990 where I spent 6 months playing at the Irish Exhibition at Expo 90 or ’Hana Haku’ as they called it there. These days I still live in Ireland and I tour a lot with different musicians and singers. I have been working with singer and actress Hazel O’Connor since 1998 when we went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a show called Beyond Breaking Glass. We are going back in August 2008 for a 10th anniversary performance at the Fringe. I also play a lot of classical and traditional music with another harpist, Anne-Marie O’Farrell. We released our first CD of harp duets called ’Double Strung’ in 2005. Since 2004, I have had the priviledge of working with another wonderful singer from Ireland called Moya Brennan. She is the lead singer with the group Clannad and as well as touring with Moya I have had the chance to work with Clannad quite a bit since 2006. We’re touring throughout Europe during the Summer. Other recordings include ’Music for Great Irish Houses’ with Karin Leitner on flute which was released in 2007 and an forthcoming CD ’Tarraing Téad - Pulling Strings’ with Máire Breatnach on fiddle and viola. I have some other stuff posted on my own website: www.cormacdebarra.com and also at www.myspace.com/cormacdebarra ................Try the ..BEST.. ..MySpace Editor.. and ..MySpace Backgrounds.. at ..MySpace.... Lost ancient winds,
your forgotten friends,
revived un-things,
untied the ends....
New formed beings
strangest sea descend
And in sonic dreamings
known paths they extend!
Finally!
