Welcome to Iain Anderson's Myspace - updated 19th March 2011!
.
Latest: "Looking forward to returning to Skagen Festival in Denmark and Eileen's FolkFest in Sweden with folk band Cairdeas. Our new album THE THINNER LINE is doing really well!"

..Press: Iain Anderson's musical exploits have taken him from his native Edinburgh to around the world. Widely recognised as one of Scotland’s top fiddlers, his playing is in constant demand earning him appearances at many international events, notably a concert for H.M. the Queen at London’s Royal Albert Hall and the draw for the Euro 2008 football tournament. Throughout his career Iain has enjoyed playing and recording with musicians from several genres of music including some well-known Scottish names; KT Tunstall, Aly Bain, Phil Cunningham and Mick MacNeil ('Simple Minds'). Teaching fiddle adds yet another string to his bow with fiddle classes and workshops everywhere from Carlise to Canada and even Brazil under his belt. The debut album, "Silver Strings" was released in 2006 on the Highlander Music label; fans of the CD include BBC Radio 2 presenter Ken Bruce who invited Iain to play live on ‘Friday Night Is Music Night’ two years running, most recently with the BBC Concert Orchestra and singer Beverely Knight. As a frustrated broadcaster, Iain can sometimes be heard ranting on Radio Scotland on the subject of Scottish music and, for a short time, had the pleasure of presenting "The Sunday Gatherin'" on Radio Borders with a number of voiceovers to his credit also. Iain tours with Scottish folk group 'Cairdeas' and works freelance, playing concerts and ceilidh’s and recording with different musicians at a variety of events both in and outside of Scotland.

Updated 19th March 2011: The album "Riggit Up!", a collaboration between Iain and fiddler Gemma Donald, is selling fast. This recording follows in the footsteps of an exceptionally busy year; In addition to concerts, ceilidhs, festivals, recording and teaching, Iain has played concerts in Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Italy, Shetland and four times in Switzerland. Plans are also underway for a return to Holland after a gap of four years.

The popular Scottish folk group, Cairdeas, with whom Iain plays fiddle, is on the rise in Europe this year. Cairdeas joins the forces of Iain with his good friends Colin Ramage (guitar, vocals, mandolin) and Neil Paterson (pipes and whistles). Already very popular around Europe, the band continues to impress with international festival appearances and credits on BBC radio and television.

Cairdeas recently appeared on BBC Scotland’s flagship folk music show 'Travelling Folk' talking about their career highlights to date including their numerous concerts in Switzerland. Switzerland is where it all began and it continues to be one of their favourite countries to tour. Cairdeas has a well established fan-base there and they’ll be touring with their new album later this year. (see ‘cairdeasmusic’ on myspace for tour dates).

Iain’s critically acclaimed solo album, Silver Strings’, is available to buy from Footstompin Music and several other reputable online retailers. Christmas is just around the corner, why wait?! ;-)

Iain is available to play for every conceivable kind of Scottish event anywhere in the world as a duo/trio or as part of a larger band. If you would like to consider booking him for your event, or if you'd like a demo CD, please Email: iainandersonbands@hotmail.com

"Iain Anderson is in constant demand from within and outwith the folk music scene - his solo album demonstrates exactly why!.... his understanding of the intricacies of traditional music appears second to none".
Rock 'n' Reel Magazine June 2007

"Gleamingly brilliant".
The Scotsman - 30th October 2007

"Iain shows his mastery of his instrument in a collection that cannot fail to please".

"...one of the most sought-after fiddling talents in Scotland".
