    Norman Wilkerson does stand-up comedy. He does it anyplace that'll have him. It's the one thing that he's truly good at. It's the one thing he still loves. And, for the past half decade or so he's been culling together a small but growing number of rabid fans from across America and abroad. His comedy has been described as intelligent, insightful, irreverent, cutting edge and, oh yeah.. funny. It's also been described as patently offensive. You can't please everyone. He's never won a contest and he's never been on Premium Blend. But, he does have the dubious honor of being included amongst The Unbookables, a list of comics compiled by Doug Stanhope and described as the would-be teeth of our generation, should our generation ever tire of gumming its food. Norman began his career in the comedy Mecca that is the Washington DC - Baltimore sprawl, performing at Wiseacres Comedy Club (his erstwhile home), The DC Improv, The Baltimore Comedy Factory and the various regional shit-holes that host a comedy night. He's been featured at the self-described Comedy Hole in New York City, been heckled by a mob of angry animals in Philly, appeared with freaks and fetishists in Worchester MA and performed as an uninvited special guest at the Boston Comedy Festival. He's been well received in Appleton WI and less so in Jackson TN. Memphis seemed to like him. He's also entertained and appalled audiences in England, performing at various venues as part of The Manchester Comedy Festival, as well as the historic Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool. Lately he's been living in Austin Texas, a move suggested by well meaning individuals who assured him it would be a boost to his career. We'll see.

Bio:

Norman Wilkerson is little bit uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Hes very uncomfortable with the notion of selling himself to jaded bookers with a three paragraph bio filled with glowing clich terms. Norman has spent hours scouring his thesaurus for the words that will approximate his self evaluation and still persuade people that hes worth seeing. Norman has low self-esteem. And, while he views this as part of his charm, hes been having trouble reconciling this feelings of worthlessness with his need for affirmation on the comedy stage. The one thing he can say about himself without feeling a twinge of trepidation is that he is funny. Norman Wilkerson makes people laugh. He also has opinions. Oh yes... Norman Wilkerson is very opinionated. And for some absurd reason, He thinks his opinions are special enough to be shared with everyone. And his delusions dont end there. For several years hes been under the misconception that if he can get people to laugh at themselves they will begin to see things his way, and thus, he believes, he will incrementally begin to change the world. Norman Wilkerson has megalomaniac tendencies. A few more things that Norman can say truthfully about himself: He as appeared at the DC Improv, the Richmond Funnybone and Wiseacres Comedy Club. He has also appeared at numerous crappy little one-niters that dont bear mentioning. He has appeared with Tony Rock and Todd Glass by mere chance, and with Doug Stanhope by design. Doug liked him enough to include him in his list of "Unbookables", a line-up of the comics "who would be the teeth of this generation..." . Whether or not the others would endorse him so glowingly is anybodys guess. Hed like to think they would. ..
