About me: Hello, I'm the 1982 World's Fair. I took place in Knoxville from May 1st-October 31st in summer of 1982. I certainly left my mark in my short time around downtown. I brought nations from all over the world to raise hell in Knoxville for 6 months or so. Some hated me, some loved me, but they all knew I was around. Anyway, since it's been 25 years since then and I know so many people, I thought I'd join this myspace thing to see what happens. I'm also selling my t-shirts and such at West Towne Mall over the holidays. (OK...I'm a sell out, but so what?!? Proceeds are going to the East Tennessee Historical Society. If you want to give me props, just put your best memories of me in the comments. I love you all very much.
Here are some home videos of myself for your pleasure.
Also, Check out the .. store at www.1982worldsfair.com More items to come. WoooHoo! Proceeds from here will benifit the ETHS as well as the mall store....
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!

1982 was my Sr. year at UT. Worked at The Fish Market waiting tables. Made tons of $$$$ and spent most of it next door at Ruby Tuesday's where some friends worked. Now my oldest is a Jr. at Ut. Talk about a blast from the past!!!
one time in 1998 when i was studying abroad in mexico city, we took a field trip 2 hrs away to taxco, known for its fine silver. long story short, at the end of the day i got lost and got left by the bus! so i continued shopping. i was brousing one shop when lo and behold, there in the middle of mexico i came across a mother-trucking 1982 world's fair t-shirt! and i knew i wasn't alone anymore.
the sunsphere is always lookin out for its own, that's what i learned.
My parents pretty much lived at the Stroh's House throughout the whole fair. I can still remember them coming home and laughing thier asses off everynight.
Wow! I'm so glad to see the 1982 World's Fair get their own page! Working with my dad at The Philippine Connection (directly beneath the Sunsphere) was one of the best actual JOBS I ever had! Happy Birthday! I hope I'm lucky enough to see (and attend) the reopening of the Sunsphere this year! Best wishes, Teep
