  • What a summer!!

It's been a very busy summer here in Massachusetts.
We waited for Jackson Wayne to arrive on 7/8/09 and helped Julie and Shane get the daycare ready for September 8th opening.  New roof, new fence, lots of paint and carpeting and a special sign to advertise.  It's ready to go and she has here first new customers.
Dylan has gotten so big and he loves his little bother.  Kisses and hugs him all the time.
Randy has been out of work since November 08. Hopefully, something will come along soon.  He is president of the Amesbury Lions Club this year.  I am zone chairman and 1st vice president.
Mom is doing well at her new home.  Recovery from Gallbladder removal was long but she's back to her old self now.  She's happy, healthy, well-fed and they love her and are so kind to her.  I am unstressed knowing that she is well taken care of.
Mike graduated in May and he is going to work towards his Master's this fall.
Work is crazy. Not enough hands to get the job done since the layoff last spring.  Just skimming the surface and getting by.  I have become apathetic and never thought that would happen.  My work ethic has changed.  Wish I could leave or retire but can't.  so - it's one day at a time.
  • MOMMY'S BACK!!

    Current mood:relieved

In spite of the weather, the three muskateers ventured out into the snow storm to bring Miss Mary to see the doctor.  First one since her operation to remove her gallbladder.  Randy drove us so we could get close to the door and minimize the exposure to the elements.
All was well, weight was real good. We reviewed her meds; took two away, added one.  Doctor Jana is on my A list, as well as Dr. Nick (surgeon). so happy to have found these wonderful healthcare providers.
She looks so good.  She had her hair done. Her eyes so blue and bright!  And because she's lost the unnecessary weight, her face is My Mommy's face once again.
She uses a walker now for stability but moves right along. She's happy, well cared for and that means to world to me.  I'll treasure this hiatus and refresh.

  • Mom

It's been 12 days since Mom's surgery and everything I've read about general anesthesia advancing her dementia is true.

I'm sad and it hurts to see the blankness wash over her.  When she first sees me, she lights up...she knows me...but then she "goes away".  I keep talking to her...telling her I love her, asking her how she feels..."With my hands" (there she is!) albeit briefly.

This Saturday - the Town will light up the Holiday Tree...her tree...a tree from the farm that is a tribute to her and dad for all the years they gave to our community.  It will be too soon, too cold for her to witness the tree lighting but she will be there in my heart.

I hope she is better soon, back on her feet and able to go "home" to her friends at Haverhill Crossings.  I know that she needs rehab but I also know that home will provide a more specialized care and they will help her eat and walk and get strong again.

That look in her eyes when I ask her to eat a bite...just one...for me.  And that's all I can get in....one bite.  I tell her she needs to eat to get strong...so she can go home.  But I think the home she wants to go to has no food or chairs or beds or earthly possessions.

In her young mind she is running on the farm in Stratham, taunting and being taunted by her brothers. She is driving the hay rake in the field adjacent to where her future husband saw her and said "I'm going to marry that girl". She's walking down the aisle on her father's arm six months later. She's dancing at the Rockingham Ballroom. She raising her children and grandchildren.  She's driving that school bus. Sadly, she has been without her one true love for 25 years.  It's hard but I think that is where she'd rather be.
