FIREHOUSE was formed from members of two other groups. Bill Leverty (guitar, vocals) and Michael Foster (drums, vocals) were playing in a band called "White Heat" and CJ Snare (vocals, keyboards) and Perry Richardson (bass, vocals) were with "Maxx Warrior". When "Maxx Warrior" broke up, Leverty and Foster recruited Snare. Later, Richardson was brought in to complete the group. The moniker "White Heat" had been taken by another group (whatever happened to them anyway?), and it was Foster who came up with the name the band still uses today:
FIREHOUSE.
Releasing their first album on Epic Records in 1991 and appropriately using the title "FIREHOUSE", they were on their way. Suddenly their songs were playing on the radio and they were traveling the world with the likes of Journey, Bon Jovi, Blue Oyster Cult, Tesla, Skid Row, Sammy Hagar and many, many more.
Singles like "Don't Treat Me Bad" and "Love of a Lifetime", proved that FIREHOUSE was not just any band. With all 4 members of the band providing vocal support, FIREHOUSE is a wonderful, musically sound group that provides something for everyone.
In 1991, FIREHOUSE won numerous recognition awards including the American Music Award for
"Best New Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Group"
FIREHOUSE has now, for more than a decade, delivered a melodic sound with rock undertones that have sustained them in the music world. Through years of writing, recording, and touring, FIREHOUSE has made a name for themselves. Not relenting to the grunge movement, just riding it out, has proven to be a successful strategy. Like many of the groups from the late 80's and early 90's, FIREHOUSE got set to the side, but not pushed to the back by any means. They have also had their ups and downs, having to replace Richardson first with Bruce Waibel, then Dario Seixas and most recently Allen McKenzie. McKenzie completes the current FIREHOUSE lineup.
They have now completed 8 studio albums including an all acoustic release "Good Acoustics" and their most recent "Prime Time". The latter of which reveals how vocally strong this group really is with Leverty and Foster lending their pipes for lead vocals on songs like
"Holding On" & "Door to Door" respectively.
If you are reading this, you're probably a FIREHOUSE fan, and you should also check out "Wanderlust", Leverty's first solo project.
FIREHOUSE have been included in several "Rock Never Stops" tours including the 2005 tour which also featured Cinderella, Ratt, and Quiet Riot. Most recently FIREHOUSE has been doing shows here and there in smaller clubs, headlining and also sharing the stage with Warrant and LA Guns. FIREHOUSE has more dates scheduled and will continue to tour. A new album may also be forthcoming.
