THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN HERE with One Above's high-energy cover of Concrete Blonde's incredible "Bloodletting (Vampire Song)," featured here in an explosive live rehearsal version that will surely clear your speakers of any cobwebs that they might have previously housed. The soft, melodic and pensive instrumental "Never to Fear" represents One Above's experimental aspect, as its basic tracks were improvised whilst being recorded live in the studio. The band cites a strong influence, the legendary and groundbreaking King Crimson, for the inspiration behind the free-form middle section of this track. Next up: the big beat original "Happy Birthday (Says the Witch)." Musically speaking, this track is very much inspired by one of One Above's primary influences: the great Black Sabbath. "Dying Time Again" is best described as one powerful protest song. This original number concludes with a spoken line that paraphrases Shakespeare and will echo down the corridors of time: "A coward dies a thousand times / The valiant taste of death but once." Next, "Freeze the Moment" features a driving, persistent Sabbath-like riff, which gives way to a lush, acoustic-laden middle section before resolving in a flourish. "One Above Two Below" is an impassioned plea for sanity in our sometimes nightmarish, seemingly crumbling world. An acoustic video performance of this decidedly electric piece appears below this text. One Above's fiery, rather danceable version of the Dylan-written Hendrix classic "All Along the Watchtower" follows. One Above had thought their take on Uriah Heep's acoustic "Lady In Black" to be lost forever, but it has indeed resurfaced and now appears for the first time here on MySpace. The dreamlike "Sea of Love" came about during One Above's earliest rehearsals, immediately taking on an exotic life of its own. The lyrics of "Seven Miles Down" depict a futuristic 'hero vs. villain' showdown taking place in a lair nestled far underground. One Above thanks you for visiting and listening, and trusts that you'll enjoy these titles and also those that will be added periodically in the days to come. ...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ...... Bio:

ONE ABOVE TWO BELOW's music has been described as heavy, soulful, melodic - and in some cases (such as "Never to Fear") - experimental. One Above began as a power trio featuring Johnny Simone (guitar), Anthony St James (bass & vocals) and Bobby Nappo (drums). Since those days, the drummer's chair has been filled at various times by JT, Barry Bangemout® and Al Esis. When real life and schedules permit, One Above (or "1A2B") continues to concentrate on writing and performing original music and interpreting personal favorites. Pleasant dreams (and nightmares), friends & acquaintances. You're always welcome here. One Above Two Below
