A WORD FROM MY HEART. Hi there, I am Bo Cox. I am from Whitwell, Tennessee. I am married to Johnny Cox. We have two precious children Garrett 13 and Abigail 5. I want to say that I am honored to be a wife, mother, and most of all a Christian. I absolutely love the lot in life God handed me. I believe Christians should make the most of every opportunity we have to glorify God. The GRACE of GOD AMAZES ME! I never imagined how good life could be until I met Jesus Christ. He has taken a broken life that was filled with much sin and heart ache and turned it completely around. I am still astonished that He uses me in spite of the sin I committed in my previous life style. THAT is true GRACE. It really is sufficient and I am thankful to have it.
In spite of the childhood that was handed me and my three siblings including a broken home, alcohol and physical abuse. Me and my big brother Wade Sims, has always loved to sing. As a child I would sing country songs for family. But, it was not until I accepted Christ as my savior at age 19 and just out of college, that I began to sing seriously for Christ. I get excited every time I am given the opportunity to sing. By sharing my story of the dark times in life and how God has miraculaously transformed me and my family have brought hope and encouragement to many people.
I enjoy singing anywhere that Christ can be magnified. Whether it be at churches, Ladies Conferences, or County fairs to name a few.
I started singing with Johnny's family soon after we met in 1993. Renee Webb, Kay Smith, and I started the trio formerly known as, "Crimson Flow." We traveled for over six years. After the group ended, I began singing solo. Many people encouraged me to record a CD. After much prayer, I did. My small budget CD in early 2000, "Take up your Cross," has several original songs I wrote and has a very moving song entitled "A Woman's Choice," written by Kenny Webb. It has become a favorite to my family and friends. The money for this project was given to me from my church as well as a new sound system showing their support for my ministry.
In late 2000, I put my ministry on hold when sickness struck my mother. At age 49 she was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. I helped take care of my mother until her death in 2004. God has truly shown me HIS Soverienty and Power throughout my trials and answered many prayers through my mothers sickness and how I could and did have Joy unspeakable through out that sickness. My deep and abiding faith in Christ sustained me during that time.
I had been desiring and praying for God to move in my singing Ministry and God is opening doors daily. Over the years, I have sang on the same stage with Ernie Dawson and Heirline, Ricky Scaggs, The Crabb Family, Naomi and the Segos, Mike and Kelly Bowling and Crossway.I try to take advantage of every opportunity that God gives me in the ministry. On March 31, 2007, I entered the Southern Gospel Music fanfair talent contest and won first place. The prize consisted of a recording session, single song release to christian radio, photo session, free advertisements, and an opportunity to sing on the main stage with the nights headline singers, which were Lulu Roman and the Freemans. After that, I made a project in September of 2007. It has a little southern gospel and a little contemporary music on it. Songs on the project are "God Bless America," Gerald Crabb's, "Don't you wanna go, Hold me while I cry, and Shephards Call, " "Redeemer, "The Potters Hand," "All my tears," and more. It also features my three year old daughter, Abigail singing "God Gave you to me." In the spring of 2008, I had the opportunity to compete in the NACMAI Show @ the Country Tonite theater in Pigeon Forge, TN through the GCGMA. I won Most Promising Female Vocalist of the year in the New Gospel Division. I also won the Horizon Award for Album of the Year. It was a privilege to be a part of the Country Tonite Theater. I am also honored to be a part of the GCGMA. For more information you can go to www.gcgma.org . In the summer of 2008, my dear friend Tammy Ratcliff of the, "Dixie Sonshine," told me about another contest in Columbia, TN. I entered it and won first place. I won 500.00 and free recording time at Chris Havens Studio in Nashville, TN on Music Row. I am so excited to see what God is going to do with the doors that have been opened.I feel 2009 is going to be a great year. Thanks for stopping in. You can contact me any time. God bless you. Bo ***
