gnosis means 'to know'. gnosticism is the pursuit of truth, of which there is only one. anyone who assigns the term to any more specific religion or process is simply wrong.
the only reason i phrase it that strongly is because i think that mistake is a key factor in the process of gnosis not already saturating our culture. gnosis is not about the doctrine of the early christians, or even the egyptian magic before that. it is about what those groups were attempting to access; the single divine truth. it is about seeking and nurturing that truth.
