Creative Force is an exciting kaleidoscopic musical tour de force of sounds.
This fascinating blend of jazz with reggae, ambient funk plus pan African and Brazilian influenced grooves within colourful, radiant compositions, make Creative Force an experience not to be missed.
Their powerful and vibrant repertoire completely reflects the band members experiences as creative jazz musicians in the UK and through various territories in various parts of the world over the years.
Such regions as the Caribbean, Brazil and Africa and collaborations with world renowned artists. Compositions which are both challenging and uplifting with a stimulating rhythmic impetus, as well as explorative and evocative.
Led by ‘the peerless flautist’ Rowland Sutherland, the band also features the twice British Jazz award winner Orphy Robinson on vibes. This outstanding sextet is completed by some of the cream of the London jazz and groove circuit.
A performance from Creative Force exhibits a musical exploration through the history of reggae drawing on Ska, Rock Steady, Dub, through to contemporary forms including Dancehall / Ragga. Thrown into this heady cocktail of new sounds are clear influences from Afro Brazilian, Drum & Bass, as well as Brit Funk zones all coupled with modern Jazz.
Creative Force debuted at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London opposite the renowned Blue Note label avant-garde pianist Andrew Hill.
Rowland Sutherland voted the number one Flutist in the Brazilian journal Tribuna da Imprensa ("Press Tribune").
Orphy Robinson, winner of the British Jazz Awards' Best newcomer and Best
