Bio
........ .. ..........I created my own profile using ..nUCLEArcENTURy.COM.. and you should too! Veteran Jamaican singer, he started singing in 1972 in the vocal group "Well Please & Satisfied". After going solo, he recorded his first hit "Natty Chase the barber" in 1975, an entire LP followed mixed by Tubby's & Jammy's... Alongside his bretheren Jacob Miller & Inner Circle he started performing around the world but the death of Miller stopped this natural progression. Back to a solo carreer, Jahson recorded 4 other LP's and is now working with the likes of G. Vibes or Ronnie Lion to put out some new tracks while gathering his former works in the meantime. He recently reissued his legendary debut set and many 45's on his own "Pick a Skill" label. You can even buy the music from http://www.davidjahson.com David Jahson - Christened 'Everald . G. Pickersgill' who was born in Kingston Jamaica on the 4th November under the Scorpio sign and from the Tribe of Gad is a rare combination of talent. The singer / songwriter with a cool rootsy voice. David has grown up amongst some of Jamaica's high profile musical giants! Where David was living on third street, Bob Marley was on First Street, Delroy Wilson on Second Street, Joe Higgs on third street, Alton Ellis on Fifth Street - just to mention a few of the hosts of artistes living in an around Trench Town. David Jahson's versatile and individual style developed with the beginning of his career after his debut single 'For I' was recorded at Dynamic Studios in Kingston Jamaica and went to number seven in the top tenof the Jamaican Radio Charts (1975). From then onwards David continued to write and produce his own singles following the success of his debut record. These included singles such as 'Child Of The King' and 'Natty Chase The Barber' which went to number two in the JBC Radio Charts. At this time David also performed on the same stage as Bob Marley who sang 'Chase Dem Crazy Bald Head' just after David performed his song when they sang at a Twelve Tribes of Israel Celebration Dance. Singles such as 'Give Thanks & Praise', 'Rough Neck Soldier' and 'People Bawling' were to follow. "Well pleased and Satisfied" was the group led by Jerry Baxter that David joined in 1977 to help produce classics such as 'Black on Black', 'Gates of Zion', 'Westman Rock', 'Mr. DJ and others which are still dance hall favourites in Jamaica today. The band separated when two members went to live abroad. By the end of that year David was approached by Ian Lewis and the late Jacob Miller of the 'Inner Circle' to co produce the album entitled "Natty Chase The Barber Away" which was recorded at Channel One Studios and mixed at King Tubby's Studios by King Jammys & King Tubby. The albumwas pressed and released in the USA, improted to the UK and quickly snapped up by hard core Roots record collectors. David Jahson toured with @Inner Circle' around America and Europe, with headlining acts such as "Average White Band", "Mother's Finest" and "Ian Dury and the Blockheads". During the 1980s David, now based in England, continued to work within the music industry producing several singles. This resulted in the production of his second album entitled "Past and Present" which was released on his own 'SPY' record label. In 1985, David released yet another album - "Come Again Showcase". David teamed up with the legendary Errol Dunkleyto produce and sing a few songs such as Errol's "Lips of Wine", "Stop The Shooting", David's "Formula" and "True Believer".. These songs went down well in the dance halls and clubs. David also teamed up with the great Mike Brooks to produce songs like David Jahson's "Sinner Man", "Stand Up Firm", "Burning Bright" and Mike's "Little Girl" and "After Dark". David has now re-released the original "Natty Chase The Barber" album on his own "Pick A Skill" label and followed it up by another album entitled "Child of the King" - this album is a rootsy classic which should be an essential part of every Roots record collectors record collection! In 2006, David released another album entitled "In Charge". A tuff roots album which should definetly be in your collection. .... I will be appearing live at the Arch 269 Coldharbour lane Brixton on the 31st December 2008. It's going to be BIG so don't miss out. .... ...... .. ...... ....
