Midian sounds like Midian. Her musical ability practically stumbled on, is a raw yet refined instrument. With strong musical influences like Etta james, Ray Charles, Mary J Blige, Stevie Wonder, and you would expect her sound to be strictly soulful R&B. Yet self proclaimed influences such as the Fugees, Tupac, Jayz, Biggie, and Kanye she has an undeniable hip hop rhetoric that even comes off as flow at times. Unknown to her, ironically, was that her grandfather had been an accomplished jazz pianist and owned a music school and her father a guitarist. Estranged from her father since a young child, Midian grew up in the home of an alcoholic single mother and left home by seventeen. Angelic good looks and height drew interest from modeling agencies since she was a young girl, by this time she was steadfast on the scene and making appearances in magazines and television. Midian's music happened upon her accidently it seemed almost inevitable that Midian would eventually turn to sounds and rhymes.
