Bio
.. Cecil Abels, aka Mr Sippy plays with a number of bands between New England and his native home of Mississippi. Currently in Mississippi, playing with: THE OKRATONES a trio made up of old friend from Maine Kevin Guyer on bass and vocals, new (relative) friend Wendell Haag on Guitars and Vocals. The OKRATONES have gotten great airtime in a short while, making regular appearances on "Thacker Mountain Radio" shows in Off Square Books in Oxford and are regulars on the "Big Truck Theater" stage in Taylor, MS. Also appearing regularly at "The Carroll County Market" in Carrollton. We will be doing a tour of New England in June/July. Come see us! The music you hear here on this page is that made with a band scheduled to tour the UK and Ireland "Grassified,"an exciting collection of some of NewEngland's best bluegrass musicians. They included: Bass: Ron Ross of S. Berwick, Maine a professional sideman with many national touring credits, Joe Walsh on mandolin who was Berkley College of Music's first Mandolin graduate, Wes Corbet on Banjo, another Berkley student who has made a name with a good number of touring bluegrass bands including the Biscuit Burners. On dobro and vocals is Dave Richey who has played with The Everybody Fields and now with the Billy Pilgrims in Colorado. Cecil plays with the New England Bluegrass Band when in New England and keeps an ongoing tour-festival schedule with that band that is now going on 9 years. -
