No Dice - Heaven Sent Hell Bent....
.. ..
If what you're lookin' for is hot blooded American
Rock-n-Roll, look no further. Without a doubt, No dice is comin' right off the
West Coast to cram some kick ass tunes into your cranium. Not easily comparable
to anything else out there, all I have to say is that this release is fucking
rockin'. Some would call this "Punk". I say that "Heaven Sent
Hell Bent" is a very pleasing evolution in Rock & Roll. At first
listen, you'll hear the unmistakable characteristics of old school rock, but
then you notice something. It's not quite the same as music you hear on the
radio, but you like it. then you realize it's that Slap Bass, baby! This three
piece combines their talent to bring you some of the best music out there,
period. No Dice is fairly new to the scene, but they are no rookies. Their
ability to deliver high energy music at a fast pace, while still holding a
decent harmony is proudly displayed on this release, without sacrificing their
"I don't give a fuck" attitude. Lyrics tell tales of booze, broads
& hotrods(as athe 1st track is amply named), which, I think, we can all
relate to. I give it an undisputable ....

To the uninitiated No Dice are Domino Bock - Lead
Vocals, Jerry Rebel - Lead Guitar , Matt Ross - Bass and The Mechanic - Drums.
They describe their music as “Nitro Burning Rock-N-Roll” and were formed in Southern California in early 2006.
Actually, if “Nitro Burning Rock-N-Roll” were a genre, there would
definitely be a few bands I would put into that category; The Chop
Tops, The Pendletons, The Rocketz and No Dice, obviously.
The CD starts out in overdrive and then moves up a gear. There is no let up from start to finish.
From the moment the first slap bass twang attacks your sub-woofer on Booze, Broads and Hotrods to the last, delicious guitar chord that fades out on Things & Go, it’s a relentless roller-coaster ride.
Highlights for me were the anthemic Drunk Again. A sentiment I have shared on more than one occasion. Also the title track Heaven Sent, Hell Bent.
I love this and when I was listening to it in the car on my way back to
the studio, repeated it at least 4 times before allowing the CD to play
the next track.
The CD as a package works beautifully, nice design and some great photos, which the guys share from various live events.
Overall it’s a great CD, but this review does come with one warning.
Do not leave it in your CD player on full blast, then make the mistake
of pressing play the next morning, when you’ve got a hang-over.
