  • Introducing

Hi. my name is Tony. I am the sound/light man for Shatter. I started out as a Shatter fan. Plain and simple. I went with my cousin P and saw them once, and after that, I was hooked. They were/are an amazing live band. I saw every show of theirs that I could. I even lost a job because I skipped a shift at work to go to a show.

I went because they rocked harder than most bands, but most of all it was because a Shatter show was just a ton of fun. I couldn't remember the last time I had that much fun at a local show. I went to more and more shows and actually got to hang out with the band. Over time I got to know the guys and I was a little freaked out that they were so normal. (Except for Igor. I love you like a brother, but you are one weird guy at times, man. Just being honest.)

They either didn't know how awesome they were or they just didn't let it go to their heads. I like to think its a bit of both. They, unlike most bands I have known, had no ego about it. Shatter was going places, and everyone knew it. Everyone, except for them. So when they asked me to be their sound and light man a few months back, I was like "Hells yeah!" But now, its almost a bit of a bummer, cuz being on the boards means I can't be down front, banging my head, singing along, dancing, and partying like you guys will be.

Over the year and a half I have known them, the line up has changed a little, some crazy shit has gone down, and some really amazing music has been made in the process. Its pretty much a mix of a lot of hard work, a little fighting and yelling, and some partying on the side. Its been quite a journey so far. I mean, I have some good stories, man, I could almost write a book. lol. But the real journey is still ahead of us. And I am just greatful to be along for the ride.  And I hope you are there with us too. I'll see you at the show.

  • One Ass and Ball Grabbing Leprechaun

We've been back in Des Moines for a week now from recording "Timeless" the album in California. That was a huge experience for us, we worked pretty hard, learned a lot, realized it was a lot more hard work than we ever expected, but we Survived. The album will have 11 songs and from the demo stage to the final stage, there were a lot of changes on many songs.

The album will be gettig mastered soon and then duplicated in preparing for a June 5th release. We've decided to have a CD Release show at House of Bricks that evening with two shows, 5PM and 9PM. the first show will be an all ages gig, the second being a 21+ show. We will be joined by a number of bands and friends and hope to have one hell of a great evening of rock music.

The experience going to Sacramento, California in February was interesting for the guys, we drove there with our equipment and stopped through areas like Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Arizona, then good ol' Las Vegas. The stories from some of those places are certainly worth the trip alone. What happens in Vegas follows you for weeks!

Then, in Sacramento, before we even got started recording, we had some welcoming stories, from meeting interesting and crazy people to someone slashing a tire on the Cadillac, while we were having dinner with our producer and his wife and friends.

Recording the songs were an adventure, a lot of opinions and not a lot of solutions, but we made it through. We spent 18 full recording days to record and mix 11 songs. We had some days off, especially during The first Annual SACRAMENTO BEER WEEK! Bar after bar of long nights, really bad tales, pool sharks, horny karaoke, the battle of the click track, bad bets, and one ass and ball grabbing leprechaun during that week! I think Eric may have lost a year of his life that week.

We are taking another week off, then back to hard work getting ready for a return show April 30th at Bourbon Street in Des Moines. We plan to debut a number of new tunes and new show and of course, the same loud, unpredictable drunken bashes we normally have! See Ya There!
  • Fear and Loathing

Well in less than a week the guys will be leaving the confides of the SHATTER Cave and heading to Sacramento, California (J Street Recorders with Brian Wheat of Tesla)  to record the up coming debut album for the entire month of February. We'll be back sometime early in March. We know it'll be called Timeless, but we are not sure how many tracks it will have, laround 12 or 13 at the most.

We will be driving to California, flush with equipment and trailer and running through places like Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, and hanging out on the coast of Cali. It's going to be nice to relax a bit and get away from the crazy weather in Iowa. Yeh, we'll miss our families and everything, but this is something we've been looking forward to for a while and are really pumped for the chance to show what we can do and finally record the songs we love in an environment that should help them be the best possible.

We have some fear of Vegas because we have a budget for the entire month and we've been playing lots of poker in down down while working on demos, we may feel a little lucky. Plus, the last times Eric, Igor, and our new manager, Brett, was there they all have interesting trips, married, spending too much, and basking in the glory of substances. We may not make it to Sacramento if we aren't keeping ourselves in check.

Anyways, we have one final show before we leave at Sudsuckers on Saturday, Jan 30th in Des Moines, it's going to be a blast. The last show we played at Bourbon Street in December, we packed the place and many people couldn't find a seat or a place to hang, so we are planning for an insane evening with great raffles for awesome shit (A Day with SHATTER, 5 String Bass w/amp, signed merch, free lessons, and more).

We hope everyone comes out and rocks with us and hangs after the show because we won't see you again until March and then start looking out for new shows and of course, Timeless....
