It is hard to frame with words how I feel that O.W.L. came to be. On the one hand it is simply the musical collaboration of Stephen Smartt and Brian Pierce. Two artists coming together to share the heart and spirit of their muses with their friends and family. Just two goofy guys tripping around with Life and doing their best to make sense of this chaotic world while being overwhelmed and inspired by the maddening beauty of it all. On the other hand, I feel that our beginning as with all beginnings has its roots with in the mysterious essence that we loosely call Life. I can't speak for Brian, but I know that for us this music is a part of the alchemy of soul and mind that is allowing us to transform the lessons of hurt and hope into a clear vision of reality. In the spirit of this music I have found the seeds of my own personal healing and renewal. As such, it is an incredible honor to be allowed to carry these messages from the ether and to vibrate this world with our heart-song. I do my best to be humble and still and to embrace the inner womb of silence. With your help I know that we can open our hearts to the great freedom that is being. I am so thankful to have Brian to help in this endeavor. As well as You and all others that have assisted in the labor of the generations. This work and I believe no work could be undertaken or completed with out all of the works of our ancestors.(be they good or ill) It may be vanity to assume that I can write a song that can help anyone in anyway. It may be insane to believe that some great mystery is at the heart of all of this that we call Life... It may be folly to ignore the truth of our hearts. But this is where I stand and this is where our families can meet. In that meeting we are all one with life. Thanks for making this possible. You are not alone.
