WHO YOU CALLIN' CRAZY?
Michael “Pink” Arguello - native of Los Angeles ~Band~ 2000 LBS OF BLUES - based on the West Coast. California. Notorious wild-man & founding member of 2000 LBS of Blues~ Some might even say he’s crazy! This charismatic, off-beat entertainer known fondly to friends as Pink, has played many different styles of music over the years from jazz to blues, rockabilly to funk and even some punk along the way.
Arguello, described at times as “Over the top” with a “Big bombastic blues style” has been a West Coast favorite for over 30 years. With a personality as big as his voice, Pink’s 2000 LBS outrageous shows hearken back to an era when jump-blues was king and entertaining was what it was truly all about. Whether it’s playing local or national clubs & festivals or touring Europe there's always a cool cast of characters in the lineup ready & willing to burn down the house wherever they perform.
1999-"Livin' Large,'' the band's debut cd, received extensive airplay and landed on the European sales charts. Tracts from the cd were picked up by Virgin Records Europe for release on their boogie-woogie compilation cd that year.
2001- gave birth to a new cd, "King Size" featuring guitar wizards Junior Watson and Kirk Fletcher, with appearances by Janiva Magness, Tom Mann, Sue Palmer and a host of boogie-woogie piano playing' monsters.
2003- The circus came to town one more time with 2000 Lbs of Blues disc entitled "Almost The Greatest Show On Earth!" Featuring red-hot tracks from Kid Ramos & Kirk Fletcher on guitars; English born boogie woogie virtuoso Carl "Sonny" Leyland on piano; co- producer Lynwood Slim plays some very cool chromatic harp and a complete horn section of Johnny Viau & Troy Jennings blowing down the tent! Come on! Come all! Check out "Almost The Greatest Show On Earth!"
All cd’s are available at 2000lbsofblues.com or CDBABY.COM
When not performing, recording or solving the mysteries of life, Arguello aka Funkelbright is also a book author, illustrator & creator of The World's First Read In The Dark Children's Black Light Books. Check out Funkelbright Books at www.funkelbright.com
